The patch notes for 9.20 third common test state that:

Made terrain-related changes for difficult-to-access areas on the following maps:

  • Karelia
  • Steppes
  • Lakeville
  • Abbey
  • Mines
  • Sacred Valley
  • Mountain Pass
  • El Halluf
  • Arctic Region

Has anyone heard of details about this? My question is are the changes making these areas more accessible or less accessible, has anyone heard?

Less accessible. WG have repeatedly said they were going to make sure they made mountain goating impossible, and this is the patch they're doing it in.

But so here's the thing: 9.20 supposedly already had removed a lot of mountain goat spots.  So what is this change in 9.20 version 3 about?  That's how I read the OPs question.

Also where has WG repeatedly stated that they were removing them?  The only official statement on it I've seen was a response that they are intentional.

Touchy subject. I think some difficult to reach areas are fine and add variety.  For example there should be slopes only lights can climb- it's part of their role as far as I'm concerned.  However I certainly don't mean that they should be appearing on mountain tops to rain shells down with impunity.

Lame...goating is more fun than a lot of the gameplay these days.

The live server is 9.19.1 or something like that.  9.20.3 is the 3rd version of the common test server.

Thank God. The north side of Sacred Valley will be playable again?? So sick of mountain goats.

I would prefer to just have them put tank deleting mines on the mountain goat spots to watch the babies cry when the tank goes away for using an area WG said stop using long ago.

No tank including lights are designed for high angles of climb and especially on solid rock surface. The entire mountain goat crap due to someone able to get enough speed to get over a small rock is retarded.

About time, I shouldn't be able to get my S1 upto the north mountain goat spot on sacred valley, if I had the 103B, effectively renders the tank immune without any arty on the team, thus a huge advantage for one side. I mean, if you can get an AMX 50B up there, somethings seriously wrong.

However I do agree there should still be these sorts of little mountain goat places for lights and high mobility tanks to get up there, but both sides should have them, and if its something in the center of the map, both sides should have access to this spot. For example, Cliff - the spot where lights now go to hash it out with eachother to gain spotting superiority used to be one of those little trick areas to get up there, would love for other maps that have these 'boosting' spots turned into the same thing, more areas for lights to fight over to add to map superiority.
