So I found this picture with this caption "Jagdpanzer IV/48 – Near Mount Hermon, Golan Heights (Israel) Is this tank still there? It is one of 6 Jagdpanzer IVs that came from Spain, France and Czechoslovakia and were sold to Syria in the 1960s"  Does anyone know anymore info on it other than what was given?  As in if it has been salvaged or if its exact location is known?

I originally found it from here http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_Panzer_IV_variants.pdf

I'm sure if you had it's coordinates you could stick them in Google Earth and find it...

yeah, i don't.  And the image was taken in 1980 when there weren't GPS's on cameras so i can't geolocate it base off of coordinates.

If I'm not mistaken, the Syrian army also had Panthers after WW2.  Can't recall the source where I read that.

Nope, no Panthers. They had Pz.Kpfw. IVs, StuG IIIs, several JgdPz. IVs, and several Hummels. They were also using T-34/85s at the time too.

Yeah, you're right - the French army did use Panthers post-war for a bit.

This is a really good blog post about the use of German tanks by the Syrians long after the war:
