I have played many TDs over the past two years. I still consider the Stug III G my fav, Su 144, awesome, the JpzE 100 a beast, and the Wpz equal.   I decided to try the STRV S1-.  Total garbage, not worth the gold.  Now, I am far from the best player and I remember saying the Hetzer sucked as I watched people dominate in it. But I can't find any quality (Other than gun) in this STRV S1. I expected results like the UDES, but guess I was wrong.  How patient should I be with this thing or am I wrong in playing it like I do the Stug and SU ?

The S1 is a sniper. All it can do is snipe. Playing it any other way just does not work.

You abuse you camo, view range, and bushes to snipe people into tears. It isn't the easiest tank to play with all of the corridor maps but I love it. When you are top tier, the armor is solid against anything that has a 90mm gun or smaller.

It's a very serviceable sniper even when it's tier 10. Top tier it's an absolute beast. If you just observe the ebb and flow of each class on a particular map you get an excellent idea where to set up to cause a lot of damage. The UDES was to me a very different tank. Where the UDES couldn't get hit with a gopher fart without being penned, the S1 can bounce a lot of incoming at equal or lower tier. UDES has that wicked speed while the S1 does not.

You mean the invisible tank that kills me from who knows where ? I kind of think I'm impressed, depressing as it is.

Thank you for the responses.  After reading them, I think I may need to adjust my play style. My WN8 will suffer (Like its actually good), but Osean and Goat make sense. I expected the speed of the UDES, I was mistaken.

Good luck and thanks ~   o7

I like to play heavies and when I bought the S1 I was also not impressed after 20-30 battles or so I got the hang of it, I think I was too comfortable with a turret and a frontline brawler. 150 battles later and I love the S1, I can at least say I bounced a Grille 15 once with the S1 don't know how just pure luck I guess

I purchased the S1 because I wanted to see what all the hype was regarding the hydraulic suspension as I hadn't worked my way up the Swedish TD line yet.  As was mentioned, getting used to the S1 takes a while.  Not long ago, I was camped in a bush well behind the lines and made 6 kills and was never once spotted. After the game, I had an opposing player message me that he was reporting me for a camo mod infraction.....sigh.  The S1, when it is top tier, is a very formidable sniper and as long as you keep the enemy about 200 meters in front of you, it is a very fun tank to play.  On the other hand, if an enemy light gets near you, he can run circles around you shooting and spotting you and if there is enemy arty, well......  game over.  I will also say that the S1 is an outstanding tank to use to rack up the exchange when you need to save some up to purchase newly researched tanks.
