I don't know how it can be considered to be fair fighting T-62A with Panther 88.

Why are you going up against one of the best tier 10 mediums in a tier 8 tank?  More than half of the enemy team is at your tier and at least 12 of them are within 1 tier of you and should result in a perfectly fair fight.  Honestly, this is like a tier 8 heavy driver complaining that they can't take down a Maus head on.

I get that tier 8 does suck and is arguably one of the worst tiers to play right now, but there are always plenty of enemies that you should be able to take on.

Short lister and a sleeper for me.  With James Young on vocals and Tommy Shaw playing lead.

Interestingly, having performed with Styx at least 3 times, I have never performed this song with them. A Sleeper indeed. Good one Heavy! :)

The same way it is considered fair to fight VK 30.01s, Easy 8s and T-34-85s in your Panther 88.

The issue is NOT tier VIII premium tanks.  The issue is many people actively playing tier Xs still want to seal-club tier VIIIs, so they are keeping the "Grand Battle" button in settings unchecked.  That is also why people trying to get INTO Grand Battles are frustrated.121`

Could it be that the grand battle map sucks, and people that have a clue want nothing to do with it????

OP, your team getting more mediums and the other team getting more heavies gives the advantage to YOUR TEAM.  Mobility and DPM beat alpha and armor everytime.

Except when the med driver doesn't know hat they are doing and try to take on the heavies head on.

most maps don't give mediums much advantage to use their maneuverability and dpm. currently am grinding the conqueror and i crash tier 8 meds, even most tier 9 meds so easily, while being below average.

Anything is possible.  My gut feeling is there are more holders of tier X tanks who'd prefer to stat-pad by taking on lower-tier tanks than players who want an even match...

Hey man, the STA-2 is a great tank, and as far as pen values go, this tank is better off in tier 10 matches than a lot of other premiums...

I'm not buying the STA-2. I have not bought a premium tank in two or three years and never will again after getting an unjust forum ban back then. Got another unjust ban earlier this month so my urge to buy the Enterprise this weekend at WOWS went unfulfilled.

In the past week I've found Tier 1 & 2 battles to be loads of fun. Nimble tanks, quick loading guns, no gold spamming since you can pen everything with stock AP and the newbees are no worse than many of the high tier veterans.

If you cannot play a tier 8 Premium in a tier 9-10 game properly, then something is wrong with your play style bud.

Okay, so it isn't a Primo Victoria or a Revalorisé regarding shell velocity, but it has something the others do not have: reliable shell velocity.

What is the AP shell velocity for the STA-2?  853m/sec

What is the HEAT shell velocity for the STA-2?  You guessed it, 853m/sec.

And, wanna guess what the HE shell velocity is for the STA-2?  I'll give ya three guesses and the first two don't count...  Yep, 853m/sec.  You don't even use it.  But if you DID, you would know how fast to lead the target because ALL shells fly the same.

Now, the vaunted Raviloi's velocities for it's shells vary widely.  APCR?  1460m/sec...  HEAT? 980m/sec...  And HE?  700m/sec  In other words, the standard rounds fly over twice as fast as the HE rounds.  And, since it sees tier 10 tanks, and has a 105mm cannon, an HE shell would be useful for resetting caps, would it not?  Not if an Ru 251 can outrun it!

Now, as far as one of the most recent premium tanks, the Primo Victoria, also has a wicked (and faster than its pseudo tech tree counterpart's) shell velocity on its standard (APCR) round of 1300m/sec!  The Premium rounds are also APCR, and apparently have a little more powder in the charge since they fly at 1400m/sec.  The HE on the Primo though?  600m/sec.

"Ah, screw that Beorn, the Primo would never use its HE shells anyway!  The 20lb. gun only has an 83.4mm diameter!  Not enough OOMF on the rounds to have enough explosives.  Your example sucks!"

Perhaps you are correct.  That being said, let's take a tank that is uniquely qualified to use the HE ordnance for cap resets or to annoy hull-down baddies.  Our NEWEST Premium Tier VIII Russian Medium tank, the STG Guard which is equipped with a 122mm gun.  The AP and HE rounds both travel at 880m/sec.  But the Premium APCR travel at 1000m/sec.  Hmm...  Not too bad really.  That doesn't really assist my argument.

::shakes head::

The point is, 212 standard pen and 275 premium round pen on the STA-2 makes this a pretty sweet little tank, all things considered.  You KNOW how fast those shells will fly, and you just need to practice and plan accordingly.

Best of luck to you!
