16 years ago I was on duty when this happened.  It means a little more when you're a first responder.  I haven't seen much on the forums today about this if at all.  Not saying I've seen every post made today, but boy it sure seems like we've forgotten.  I remember #343 #FDNY

I remember that day and the weather was exactly like today. Sunny and warm.

I remember. I will never forget. Was getting ready for work, watching the live coverage when the second plane hit.

Canada will always stand with our closest ally.

EDIT: Forgive the Youtube slideshow but for some reason Imgur is no longer loved by WG.

Woke up in Tallulah, La. Went inside the truck stop to get some coffee, saw the 2nd plane hit. Every TV in the place was tuned in.

Damn.

Am flying my flag at home today in remembrance.  Reminded my kids about it too.

Kinda didn't realize it is 9/11 today, which I should have because that is how I remember what day is my mom's birthday. (yesterday if you are wondering)

I worked in the tallest building in Seattle (76 stories) and was at work at 6 am (local time) that day. So it happened while I was at work. I remember being evacuated and going down 50 some flights of stairs and working in fear for the next year.

And this pales in comparison, but only adds to my sympathies and compassion to the innocent and the heroes from that day.

I will never ever forget.

Thankyou for this thread of remembrance.

Your Mom was born yesterday? Perhaps I should link to the Rocky Horror Picture Show song, "Let's do the time warp again". :)

On a more serious note I was driving in to work when that happened so I didn't see anything on TV until after I got off shift. Heard it on the radio though. One of the few times that people realized the guy doing security at their building could potentially be doing something really useful for them.

Was at work in the UK with my wife (American).  For the next 2 weeks until we returned to the US, every time we were in public and somebody heard her accent, they went quiet and didn't know what to say.  It was the strangest 2 weeks of my life.

I remember two distinct happenings on that day where I was living, the first being how quiet it was because of all the planes being grounded (lived near the airport and could always see at least 3 or more planes coming in from the east in a light) and the second was how the National Guard base down the street brought out the camo nets, concrete barricades around the entrances as well as wheeled out the AA guns they had on display in back to be used should need be.
