WG wants to remove Grille from the game. My question is why? Is it because they consider it OP or

Grille has the best accuracy in the game right. Well let's compare, shall we:

  • Grille: 73%

  • E4:74%
  • E3: 75%
  • OBJ 260: 81%
  • Jagdpanzer E 100: 75%
  • Defender/252: 75% (this thing has .44 accuracy man!!!)
  • Maus: 79%

Sad thing is the Skorp G might have made for a better tier 10 than the Grille LOL.

I think if your missing fully aimed shots at such close ranges, its not the tanks fault....

In conclusion, Grille 15 is garbage and needs to be either replaced or buffed significantly. It has one of the worst camo values, cannot turn if its life was dependent on it, has no armour whatsoever, has mediocre view range (with 4 skilled crew and optics, I still don’t have full range)

You're supposed to use binocs on a Grille 15, not optics you gibbon.

I don't know what you talking out of your rear.

Because you don't even have one.

Silver you troll D:

Anyway... Idk, it can be fustrating at times with its inflexibility especially when you are leading a target, and the turret locks out and you have to traverse the tank. This tank does not work at short ranges, unless you get lucky with a peak and shoot technique. I've found sucess in this tank by really being a "redline camper" that rewards patience and map awareness well. Set up camp and wait for tanks to drive into range and shoot with leisure. Always stay way behind the fight and I don't find the gun bloom values that bad because the low aim time makes up for that. The grille can't sit and shoot like the strv due to low camo values, but you have to use your high alpha to your advantage. Never trust your camo unless at near max range and fall back. Predict if a flank is going to fall and retreat to get read to shoot as they come.

I feel like the Grille is so specialized that it's a turnoff. The thing looks like a dedicated sniper, through and through. It has speed to get where it needs to go, but not to get away from meds and lights. The gun is fantastic when shooting stationary targets, but the dispersion values are at least realistic. Look at how long that barrel is on such a tiny tank. From what I've read (on the designs the Grille was based on) the size of the gun was the problem. The machines couldn't fire straight over the side without risking flipping over on their side from the recoil. In one situation, a prototype 150mm shattered it's mounting upon firing.

Look at that flimsy little thing with a big gun, you think that gun would still be spot on when traversing? There's not much to stabilize it. I think this tank is essentially meant to just get to a good sniping position and put holes in the sides of enemies who have no chance of returning fire. And 279mm of penetration with standard rounds is poor? Sure, compared to other Tier X TDs, but that's still a ridiculous amount of pen.

Yes, now that is a real issue. I've tried leading targets ~200-300 meters away that are going at speeds of 50km/h+, but the game thinks that you're turning your turret too fast, so it makes your reticle bloom a bit bigger, not much but the effective accuracy drops from .29 to .35 or something...

Solution to this is: predict where your target will be at in the next half a second, aim there, and just shoot. Makes the game a little bit more challenging but the reward is that you use your most accurate gun in the game to its full potential.

+1

Hmm so treat it basically like a derp gun... Aim ahead and fire when targets are about to drive in, instead of rotating turret. I never looked at the hidden stats figuring this thing was accurate... When I started missing shots I garaged this rage inducing garbage and never played it again. May have to dust it off again and give it a try.

Wow... another 'Grille is bad' thread. I dunno, it has a fearsome gun and usually I cant see it.

Thank you for thinking it's well written :)

You missed my point, however. I am not saying they need to buff to the point when it's OP. But accuracy only works when you do not move the turret, and it is hard to find players who sit around and wait for you to shoot. Once I tried to shoot Emili II, hull from 300 meters and either missed or bounced all the shots. Instead of hull it hit his turret and bounced or completely missed the target. With my crew i have .26 accuracy man.!!

When I said the camo value is horrible, I did not mean it needs to be buffed to E25. But Grille has worst value than well armoured tanks like E4 and E3... Let's not forget, they too have 750 alpha guns and why should they have better camo?

if your'e sniping from that far out that the bloom is an issue, then you aim ahead of the target, leading it, letting aim dial down (it's nearly instant) and fire when you have tight aim.  it's something that your vaunted 183 drivers have been forced to do since their tank was released...

I refuse to put binoc on pretty much anything, and am way too impatient to redline hard.  that's why I can only muster a 55% solo win rate in mine and why I still can't break 8k dmg in mine I suppose, while having a fairly mediocre dpg in it.

I read somewhere that they have big plans to roll out huge change to the Grille-15, and they almost did it in 9.20, but they postponed it.

So fear not! Change is coming.

I can sympathize with OP. On paper, the Grille gun is great. In game though it can be very frustrating. Of every tank I have, the Grille gun is the one that makes me pull my hair out with some of the perfectly aimed shots on camping targets that just completely miss (or ghost). My Grille is only 8% more accurate than my T49 derp.

I did learn early that the Grille gun needs to remain on target an extra second or two after it is fully aimed to assure the shot will hit. Fire too soon and you won't have any idea where the shell went. Fully aim in, wait a bit longer and then fire.

And like others have said, the Grille is best to fight from the red line. But on these maps, how often do you get to do that?

I have the Grille 15 and it is my first and only tier 10. I hate playing it with a passion. To be honest I think the Sturer Emil is far better and still play the Sturer Emil pretty much daily. My crew for the Grille 15 came from the Emil. I put both of them in a tank comparison,,,,,,,, It got kind of depressing,

The St Emil never sees tier 10s so advantage there. :P

Firepower: This is depressing, Yes the Grille 15 is better but not by large margins. 2607 VS 2221 DPM for a 3 tier jump? Didn't know the shell velocity was that high on the Grille 15. The advantage is to the Grille 15 but the St Emil is no slouch. The 15 ammo on the St Emil sucks hard though.

Gun Handling: Advantage to the Grille. It has more sideways and ability to aim up. Plus better dispersion, Emil has gun depression and on the move.

Mobility: Huge advantages to the Grille barring Traverse.

Survivability: You are going to laugh here but the St Emil is better armored 50/30/30 VS 30/16/20. There are Tier 2s that can pen that armor all day long with standard rounds. Another tissue armor tank I can think of the T67.25/12/12. Lets be fair here anything that sees the Grille 15 will kill it. Even the tier 4 Luchs that was drug into a tier 10 games with the fail platoons will pen it. Luckily the Grille 15 can't be beat up by tier 4 tanks anymore.

In conclusion it is better then the Sturer Emil. But in 3 tiers it doesn't really have much to show for it other then some better dmg, pen, and shell velocity for relatively minor upgrades and a large armor sacrifice. I can devastate things in the St Emil. The Grille I just flat out can't play. The biggest frustration is that it can not survive a shot. In my opinion it needs a buff. Does it need to be OP no but the only thing it has going for it is an accurate gun. And as soon as I fire I'm getting hit back hard possibly focused on. It needs a survival buff.

IHMO it needs a camo buff and some token armor just so it has a possibility of side armor deflection. Currently using armor is like using an umbrella to protect yourself from a bowling ball.

"...super armoured T110E4"

I've heard the E4 described as many things, but this is the first time I've ever heard it described as "super armoured"...or even armoured to be honest.
