Now before I begin, all this information I have here is from The Daily Bounce WoT blog, none of it is my own research (I mean, I looked into the CTR a little after I read the articles) but they do more justice and more explaination than i could on my own. But this is for people who might not read the few WoT blogs that are out there.

The two articles TDB posted today:

https://thedailybounce.net/2017/09/14/conqueror-casement-test-rig-fv215b-183-replacement/

https://thedailybounce.net/2017/09/14/world-of-tanks-fv215b-183-possible-replacement/

Wargaming announced the possible replacement of British tank destroyer FV215b (183), but what is that new tank? Where did it come from? Another fake?

Introducing: Conqueror Casement Test Rig (CTR)

Conqueror Casement Test Rig (CTR), Self-propelled gun, medium, No 1, 120mm anti-tank gun or FV217 for short, was a self-propelled gun based on the FV214 Conqueror “Universal Tank” that mounts a 120mm gun.

According to some sources, there was actually two variants, FV205 SP Medium AT, based on the FV201 Caernarvon “Universal Tank”, cancelled in April 1949 and the FV217 SP 120 Medium AT, based on the FV214 Conqueror “Universal Tank”. The FV217 never got past the wooden model stage.

There wasn’t any known gun specification for the FV205, but the FV217 was to be armed with a 120mm gun and was intended to be a cheaper and simpler alternative to the Conqueror. It would also have had a lower profile and would have been harder to hit while working as an ambush tank. It would be equipped with a British Leyland Diesel BL 60, with 695 bhp or with a Leopard tank ten cylinder MTU multi-fuel power pack, with a top speed of 48km/h.

So yeah, there ya go. The Conqueror Casement Test Rig (CTR).............now my opinion? I like it. I like it a lot. Sure they took some liberties with altering it's structure and design, but the end product (from the 3D model) is very appealing. And personally, I think it fits the Tortoise line more appropriately than a semi-turreted Death Star. Now they're saying that it'll mount a 120mm gun....the Tort has a stock DPM with its 120mm gun of 3,525.........I can only imagine the DPM that this monster might be packing! And it looks to be nicely armored(Maybe?) from it's design and following the Tort, it should be. I would hope so anyways. Doesn't look like it'll have the gun arc from side to side because of its two bulbous frontal "boobs" but...I can deal with that. This seems like the kind of tank to take a corridor and just lock it down. And if WG DOES replace the 183 with this thing, and gives us the 183 as a prem tank....WOOHOO!!! I don't know about you guys, but I personally LOVE this new policy of replacing a tank but giving you the old one as a prem tank, I got my 155 sitting neatly in my garage. Reminds me of the old days when they used to replace tanks and give you the old one for free (think M103/T110E5/T30/T34 replacement.....OLD SCHOOL).

BUT most importantly, What do you guys think of this possible change? Giving the Brits two TD lines: One with slow moving, heavily armored, high DPM tanks, and the other with turreted, thinner armored, but big boomstick tanks? I think it'd make each line unique in its own way, right now they both end in a.......kinda similar fashion. What is your opinion?

TLDR: Super Tortoise. That's all.

Why not just have the Tortoise research two tier 10s? Do we really need to keep needlessly swapping tier 10s around?

Well I mean, if anything.....the Conway should branch off to the FV4005 and the FV215b 183, a more-mobile and thinner-armored one, and a slower-moving one with heavier armor. BUT this would make a good continuation along the Tortoise line, the non-turreted line. Thats just my opinion.

Its likely another fake tank and despite thie "historical" mockup model it looks like something that was rendered in a computer program then touched up in photoshop with filters to look like its from an old archive book.

What makes me really question this thing is that its basically got a SU 122 esque casemate with elements taken from the Stug when you look at the crew compartments on either side of the gun.

Just give us the damn Jagdchieftain already instead of fake tanks. At least that has some premise in reality.
