Just picked up my Tesla Model S.  Unbelievable car.  Acceleration pins you to the seat, yet the car hugs the car with a low center of gravity.  Love the 17inch display, not sure if I can battle while driving (LOL).  Even has a bio-weapon defense mode on the air filtration system (hopefully no need for the bio weapon part, only pollen removal).

If anyone is looking to purchase a new Model S or Model X I have a referral code (no cost to you). The code will get you a $1,000 discount as well as lifetime free supercharging.  Let me know if you are interested in  a referral.

Mike

Best of luck with the new wheels. They look great but seem to break alot. Hopefully the bugs are worked out.

Good luck with it. I'll never have that kind of money.

most of us won't. They aren't marketed to the average joe even though their tech supposedly is "open to everyone" to use.

Yeah, expensive but i hope worth it.  Really shouldn't be any maintenance, and no gas costs.  Wife committed me to a 10 year minimum ownership to justify cost.  I used a friends referral code myself so i got the discount as well as lifetime free supercharging.

I'm not begrudging you my friend! Am I jealous? Hell yeah! But I'm happy someone can afford this because maybe in my lifetime electric cars will be everywhere and affordable because people like yourself were the gunea pigs :).

10 years is fair and brightly optimistic!  I had my truck 13 years before trading in in last year.  Congratulations and the best to you mate!!

I drive mine into the ground.  My Avalanche is a 2005 and I'm almost ready to replace it.  Maintenance costs are still cheaper than a payment, and this truck doesn't owe me anything.  So, yeah.  Looks like I'll be around the 13 year mark as well.

My current car path is 2007 BMW 328xi (current) > 2014 Chevrolet Volt Premium > Tesla Model S ....... so it's somewhere in my future, but probably 10+ years from now :)

Nice!  A coworker of mine has a Model S and I drive in it all the time to lunch.  Now, anytime I see a loud Mustang/Camaro/etc, I can’t help but think “what a cute little toy”.  The best is when someone in a “fast” ICE car still thinks the Model S is just a golf cart and tries to race (and he only has the regular one, not the “P” model) :)

There are 2 things I really don’t like about the Model S though.  I hate the door handles (my coworker has had to get them fixed because they wouldn’t pop out... it’s a common failure) and getting out of the rear seat can be a pain in the [edited]in tight spots.  Other than that, it’s a fantastic car and not just a fantastic electric car.

Everywhere?  No, my '72 Polara with it's fuel-ineffecient 440 Wedge will outlive cockroaches!  When we've gone extinct, been covered by miles of sediments, and have been reduced to carbon-sludge, the next dominant species will be driving my Polara using the gas made from our civilization!

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I have heard that the Achilles' heel of such vehicles is their battery setup and that needs to be changed out every several years or so. A big ticket item when it needs to be done. Also depending on where you live and what the weather conditions are, I have also heard that intense cold has the potential to decrease the amount of power that you can draw from the battery pack and thus markedly decrease the range of the vehicle.

Regardless of my reservations though, I hope it works out well for you.
