Is it just my teams? Or is the player base of WOT really this bad

The last week has been horrible, Seems like every match I find myself surrounded in the first 3 mins because the entire team has already been wiped out. I installed XVM and it blew my mind how many tomatoes and potatoes there are in each battle, but it explained the reason for terrible gameplay. Where did all the decent players go? Another question that makes me ponder, is, how can a human being play thousands of these simulations over and over and still not grasp basic concepts? Is the human race really this stupid? Logging into WOT turns me from normal into an instant genius in comparison to the player base. Perhaps that's why I still play this game, knowing that I am light years ahead of millions in the common sense department. I hate damage farmers and rarely stray from the front lines, but, after what I have seen with this XVM, there is no other option but to sit in back and use the veggies for bait. If I'm going to be subjected to constant steamroll matches, at least I'm going to rack up some coin and XP in the process.

Player base is always bad...

I used to be one of the red/orange/yellow guys myself, but time, experience and really trying to learn, is changing that slowly...

As frustrated as I have gotten in some matches over the last few weeks at how dumb some teams are, I can still manage to keep a roughly 60% w/r and near 3k wn8 over the last 4-weeks just playing light tanks with a few heavy and medium games mixed in. So its really not that bad...

You are not alone.

Tier 9 match with 9 zero-damage tanks

It becomes instinctual after a while.  You learn where your vehicle plays best and where it doesn't.  You learn where you are needed, where you would best aid your team.  You learn what will cause the enemy to fold, and what will cause you to fold.

Unfortunately, it also becomes instinctual for bad players to get worse, as they either ignore players trying to tell them what to do, they don't care how bad they are because its a game, or they are literally incapable of learning how to play.

A lot of the competitive players left this game because of warfailings mismanagement. Combined with the fact that the game has been around long enough that even 44% players can grind (lose) their way to tier X and you end up with the romper room that is currently the game.

Well the XVM average is 48%, so there's that. I've been stuck between 45 and 46% for years and at 20k battles I'll be stuck there forever. I gave up on getting better a while ago and just play when I'm totally bored. And there's plenty more just like me. It's just a game.

There were plenty of decent people around during the ranked battle mode. However, for regular pubs it can be really bad sometimes. There are times when you are down many tanks even before you have got to where you were heading and the game is basically lost.

Perhaps shooting should be disabled for the first two minutes of the game, to make them last longer

Depends on where you have your settings set at. I know some people have it set high so that anyone under 60% W/R is red for them. Whereas for me, if you're below 45% you're red. 46% - 49% yellow. I am still yellow/orange in most of my stats but I working on it. I installed the most basic XVM mod.

This is what blows my mind.... why do something you have no intention of improving on? How can getting punched in the face over and over be 'entertainment"? It's like going fishing without intending on catching fish. Are people's motions really this mindless?

Why do people think the player-base was good? It's always been bad. You just (hopefully) get better and notice others do badly more often.

Well yeah, it's just mindless entertainment. It's not really getting punched in the face. It's not real. It's a video game.

Just had an all T10 match where 6 people did 0 damage on my team.... How is that even possible? Is the game flooded with mindless bots? Does WG not see there is an epic imbalance with their product?

So why play it? Why not do something 'entertaining'? Why not play a game that excites you or incites any kind of mental stimulation at all? There are a million games out there yet people still choose to be mindless..... I don't get it.

I've been top damage in a tier 8 light tank in tier 10 matches many times.  It is not amusing, to say the least...

Imagine that this virtual reality of proficiency is just a sliver of the real world. Makes one uneasy.
