Yeah, it's getting to be way too much crap. So here is my question:

If I turn off chat in Settings, does it also disable chat in pre-arranged platoons? Not a big deal as I can switch it off or on before battle. Just curious is all. :) For now I have it set to off.

That's good to know.  General chat is pretty useless and toxic.  For the most part I ignore it, so any actual useful info is lost anyhow.

With chat off you will still receive notifications... you know, the idiot pinging the map 20 times 'cause he's mad someone didn't go where he wants them to...  you will still have to block those guys.   You will receive msgs from people using the "Z" menu.  You will have Platoon chat.  You will see targeting messages.

For me it is easier to just ignore toxic players in game, in case of the rare instance when chat is helpful, or funny...

the biggest issue with disabling chat is that it does absolutely nothing to stop map spamming

Yea, you know...I hate looking at blinking lights on the back ends of cars while I drive, so I think I will close my eyes...

/sarcasm off

I just do not get why people can't use the brain god gave them to filter out the bad in their heads and use the good when it appears...

In my opinion, shutting chat off just takes another tool away from you...

Sounds to me like you think you can safely text and drive at the same time then.  I've seen people ping chat 230 times in under 2 minutes.  While that's an extreme example of spamming, if you think you can actually go through 40 messages in order to determine "the good" when it appears while paying attention to the game itself, you're delusional.
