I was playing with the 121 on Sand River and was sniping at the bottom glacis plate of my opponent, jackaroo0505 playing the FV215B.

I took two shots at him and caused 1,873 dmg to him.

The first one ended up being normal, but the second one yielded another result.

About 10 seconds after the second one penned his lower glacis causing normal damage, a notification popped up that I had caused 999 dmg to him.

The peculiar thing was I stopped engaging him after the second one hit, so I was nowhere near firing capability to attack him once more.

I checked afterwards to see whether it was an ammo rack or a fire.

It turned out that his fuel tanks went red.

Instead of putting him up in flames, he suddenly was destroyed with a notification that it was normal damage, as if I had penned him one time with 999 dmg.

The end game results report that he was destroyed by fire, although I do not remember him going up in flames.

Now I have never experienced being suddenly destroyed from fuel tanks going red, instead it is always a fire.

Is this a new thing that a red fuel tank is equal to an ammo rack?

Or is it a bug?

P.S. Would love to attach screen shots but it seems my global upload quota does not refresh, max file size is 65.38k with 434.62k of 500k used up.

Another thing that I am considering is the notification system might have misinformed me during battle.

Well, red fuel tanks = fire. Every second a fire burns = damage and that 999 was all the remaining HP he had after you shot him and then set him on fire, which is why it was about 10 sec later that you got the notification. 215b lower plate is notorious for its fuel tanks and burning

Yeah, catching fire twice in the same match with the 215b isn't out of the ordinary.

PS OP, you're not supposed to mention players names in the forums.......  ;)

Fire damage adds up in your damage log until it is stopped so the individual damage the fire did to your enemy per second isn't shown.

Wrong... you may not name and shame players, but you may name players. He isn't shaming the guy and therefore doesn't break the rule.
