Great band, great lyricist, great sound. Got lots of their CD's. Here's a few. These from their first full album. Will put in another post with some from the second and then hopefully you'll explore on your own.

RIP but thb couldn't have been too tragically hip as I never hear of em. On the other hand I'm not really a 'music' person so my knowledge is limited to things that catch my attention on the radio for the most part. Either way the linked music is quite good so at least his passing will spread his legacy to a wider audience.

Saw them many times, beginning at their k-town henderson arena performance in 1992.

Gord was a great lyricist and showman.

If you ever saw them live, he would say the most profound things between songs, and sometimes during quiet interludes in the songs, definitely a poet and free thinker.

did I say I wasn’t sympathetic? I honestly don’t know who this is. Since when is asking who someone is becomes non compassionate?

It looked like you simply didn't care. A bit of clarity might have avoided any displeasure with your reply.

We are in mourning up here.

Tens of millions of people have heard of him. Just too bad that you haven't.

But now, you too have heard of him.

36 million people in Canada. Most everyone of any reasonable age of comprehension has heard of him and the group. Add in USA people and you certainly will have tens of million, as well any from elsewhere.
