bishop any good anymore?

I'm about half way grinding thru the Valentine, considering getting the Bishop.  I've read some good reviews, but some may have been before the big Arty changes in 9.18.  I like the sound of it having faster reload and aim time, and a high arc to hit things behind cover.   Is the Bishop worth the grind anymore?    If not, I'm reading a lot of recent posts saying the American line is the way to go, but I'd have to start at the Priest, would like to maybe get to the M44 at least if I go that route.

Most SPGs below tier 8 basically got 0 gameplay changes, since they have poor splash and no stun.
The only changes to the Bishop/FV304 in 9.18 were VR and pen nerfs; they received no gun stat buffs.

Haven't touched it since the NERF.

Only other arty I have is an FT-BS which was awesome before the nerf averaging like 1.2 kills per game... now I'm lucky to do like 60 damage in a match so it was definitely rendered worthless.  Just worried the pen nerf on Bishop may have had a similar effect?

There's only one weakness with the Bishop, it's playing a tier that can easily make battles one-sided hopeless no matter what you do.

 

I almost don't want to lump the Bishop in with other SPGs.  Up to that point in the tank lines, I would have to compare it's game play to

the FT BS.  It doesn't have much range, but that trajectory has shells parting the clouds before coming down is something else.

One thing the Bishop has going for it the FT BS doesn't... heavy tanks to shoot at.  So you can park within range of a city and many times, hit

targets that aren't even thinking about arty in their 'safe zone'.  With a good team, +2000 damage games are easily in reach.

Oh yeah, it's pretty well armored that some light tanks thinking they have an easy kill will find out.
