Hey NA,

 

I am wanting to work and create a custom mod/skin collection of Camo, past/present/future that can be put into the game client, these would only be visible to the person with the mod installed,

I don't know where to start though, so any help would be appreciated.

 

I am basing it off of this mod:

You should contact wargaming about making mods for the game and you should be able to get there guide lines to meet there standards. they have talked about this a few patches ago you might find on YouTube to look at.

I can't find the video relating to that, does that mean I can't make a mod like this? (WG takes forever to respond to tickets)

How Tank camo colors work is a bit complicated.

In side of each tanks XML file in scripts\scripts\item_defs\vehicles\NATION\TANK.xml there are settings for the tiling of the camo texture.

in side of the file "customization.xml" there is a setting for the color for that nation.. It is the BASE color.


<armorColor>82 72 51 0</armorColor>

Also in that same file there are settings for each tanks camo... they look like this:

<c0>138 90 68 187</c0> ( red , green. blue, alpha )
<c1>203 135 67 200</c1>
<c2>198 166 117 183</c2>
<c3>112 67 46 2</c3>
</colors>

 

And here is how all this works.

to create the final color.

    cc   = mix(cc, c3 , camoTex.a * c3.a );
    return cc;

If you want to know exactly how the mix statement works in GLSL.. here is a link : https://www.khronos..../html/mix.xhtml
Each color channel color in the camo texture is used as a MIXING value.. It the camo texture is all red with no green, blue or alpha.. only the C0 color would be mixed in.
As you can see.. creating custom camouflage textures can be done but its very hard with out a tool to do so..
You may want to search around and see if this tool exist.
If you change the customization file's colors, you affect ALL camo colors!
