I literally came away from a game today (a loss in my Tiger P) with a profit of 35 credits and it made me immediately think of this. :teethhappy:

i'm sorry. you play this game for credits or for a good win? Maybe we are playing different games here.

that's nothing I once only made 1 credit profit on my type 59 with premium time if I didn't have premium time I would of made 0

far easier ways to "make credits" than expecting to do so at higher tiers.

Yeah, I play to help my team and hopefully win, but when you end up with little to no profit from trying to help your team, it means that you have that much less money to put into improving your current tank (with upgrading modules or adding equipment) or even getting the next-tier tank.

For better or worse, the way they designed the game, profits per match peak at around tier 5 or 6 in tech tree tanks. If you are half-decent, you generally will run a profit (long term) in tier 7. After that, you have to play better at each tier to stay in the black, with most players loosing silver at tier 10. My understanding is that they do this to:

1) Encourage Premium Time

2) Encourage Premium Tanks

3) Encourage Game play across all tiers.

Lets face it - it is a free to play game. WG is a business. They should have ways to encourage people to pay for things to pay the bills. And if you don't want to, you don't have to. You just have to do a lot of mid-tier battles to pay for high tier fun.

Perhaps if you used less Premium ammo and stuck with Std ammo, your fiances in silver credits will be greater?

I play mostly tiers 8-10. I have never had a problem with credits. Yes I run a premium account and use gold ammo sparingly. I will say that I probably play premium tanks about a third of the time.

Never had a problem making credits despite not always performing well its always been pretty easy to gain credits even at the higher tiers

It takes forever to realize some tanks have lower ammo costs than others, and some have higher DPM than others, etc., etc., which all leads to making credits or not, even if you have a good game...

There is a handful of premiums that rake in credits if you have a decent game, and most others fail in making good amount of credits even with decent games because of relatively high ammo cost...

It helps having a premium account.  I don't, so I rarely make any credits at Tier 10, depending on which tank I'm using.

This doesn't seem accurate.  Don't suppose you have a screen shot of that result?  If all you made was a single credit in a premium tank, with premium time, then it is most likely that without the premium time, you would have lost credits, as uncommon as that would seem in a tank that is the current leader in vBaddict's net credit earners.

there are plenty of terrible players who cant make money in preferred tier 8s....

that however, does not correlate into preferred 8 premium tanks being unable to print credits even without a premium account.

frankly, i make almost all my credits off missions these days. about 4 years ago i spent about 10 million on consumables, havent run out yet. and have managed to purchase almost all the tier 10s so far.

the marathon payout for me will be another 8 million since i own two of the tanks already.

I play Tier 8 pretty much all the Time, sprinkle in another Tier here and there for Color....     I can make Credits at Tier 8, but it also depends on the Tank....

I think anything up to Tier 8 can effectively make Credits, but the Specialized Tanks are harder to do it in if you have a Rough Game....      Autoloaders, APCR as Standard Ammo, Fancy Premium Ammo like HEAT, that can Hurt the bottom line in a Loss, especially a Blowout Loss where you're Last Man Standing...      My 4202 generally always brings a Profit, being a Premium helps alot, but even my Centurion MkI could bring Credits home....       And I don't run a Premium Account, only Premium Time I use comes from WG or with a Tank Purchase, and I have never bought a Tank that didn't include Time and Gold due to Crew Training and Tank Grinding....

I Traded in my SU 100Y for the 42-57 Swede, but that wasn't a Flat Out Purchase, but was Swapping one Gift Tank for a Better one....       Typically once the Time Expires, it's been Gone until the next Tank Purchase.....

But I may be actually Buying some Time here soon as I have some Crews to Grind for Tanks that need Crews, most notably my 7/1......         Might even get to Knock some Dust off the AX while I'm at it....

I didn't carry a single round of premium ammo.

I use standard ammo almost exclusively (I have occasionally used a few rounds of premium and then immediately regretted it when I saw the after action report.

I think that the result that I got in that game comes down to my still having had the short 88 on my Tiger P, so I was not able to pen a whole lot with the only standard ammo loadout that I had.

Tier 7 is not really "higher tier".  And tier 7 is relatively easy to make profits in.  Do more damage, and/or use less gold.  This is not meant to be rude, but your average damage is low, and your credit payout is directly linked to the damage you do, so while I think "git gud" is a rude and dismissive response most of the time, sometimes it's the right answer.  Dont blame the economy...get better at the game.

During the marathon i have been running almost exclusively tier10s. With big guns, whose ammo costs are enormous. I usually only carry 5 gold rounds and use the sparingly. I keep my missions current and occasionally get a 125k payout for doing them over with honors. With that and premium time i will make 5k on a 3k damage game. But if i miss a few rounds and only get 1.5k damage then i lose 10k. So i run tier 7s that i am grinding anyways and make 25k or better every match. Still I started today with 250k and ended with 30k. If all we need for completion of the mutz tourny is 15 days then i cn buy the tokens and go back to regular grinding. I am not sure though if its 10 and then 5 tokens for the tank or is it 15 out of 20?

From what I understand, you need 15 tokens in the marathon to get that tank. 20 tokens are available for free if you do the missions. 5 tokens are available in the shop for real money. So you either need to do 15 days of missions to get it for free, or 10 days of missions with the tokens from the store.

Fair enough.  As you can see from my battle count, I'm fairly knew to the game, so I suppose most of my struggle with making profits is just that I'm not a very good player (yet).  But I have been improving - slowly but surely.  :child:

BTW, I don't think that the way you phrased your criticism was rude. :great:
