I see at least one or two complaint threads about gold ammo a day. Am I the only one who sits back and laughs when I get hit by gold in a tank that can be penned easily by standard or gets a good laugh when gold bounces off when ap would've penned simply due to the ricochet mechanics? I for one feel if someone wants to waste credits because they're too lazy to aim thats their choice. I do think that putting gold ammo in the game was a bad move because instead of playing smart to beat something all you have to do is press 2 but since it's here to stay why all the complaints?

I don't care either way. If they want to spend extra credits on ammo to pen me, great.

I focus on my game, not their ammo choice.

I am with you.  they really do not gain anything but empty their pockets each time they pull the trigger.  But hey, its their account, their money they piss away for a cartoon game.  Also, WG needs to make money somehow so........

I just assume everybody uses it, all the time.

Not an issue. Fire whatever you want. I have a few tanks with weak pen guns and will load APCR when necessary and often enough it ends up hitting something that doesn't need it due to circumstance. Often I just forget to go back to AP in the heat of the battle as well. Just a bunch of credits.

Occasionally I get frustrated because I feel like my "armored" tank is made of paper but it isn't going anywhere so you have to adapt

edit: I was completely against wargaming making this ammo available for credits back in the day but they did it and we have to live with it

I don't because I know that often times the shot was meant for someone else that required the extra pen and that the enemy isn't dumb enough to waste time reloading just to hit my lightly armored tank.  I don't care at all when someone hits me with premium ammo.  What really makes me sit back and laugh is when I'm in a heavy and the enemies are stupid enough to keep trying to hit my weak spots with standard instead of just using premium.

They're not too lazy to aim.  They're mitigating the effects of RNG.  Aiming for weak spots is only possible when you're up close and doing so increases the chances that you'll be hit in return since you have to expose yourself longer.  No thanks.  I'd much rather just quickly punch you in the face with premium so RNG can't screw me.

Here's what usually happens when you aim for weak spots:

Exactly.  This is how you have to play the game.  I assume every enemy I encounter is using nothing but premium ammo until I see they're dumb enough not to press the 2 key when needed.

Very few of my tanks have the armor to stand even a standard AP hit anywhere, a lot of them can be penned by HE. So yep, I chuckle a bit at the humongous waste of credits when someone blaps a HEAT round into my S1 or even better, bounces a whole autoloader 90mm clip of gold off my frontal plate!

No, but that's not why people complain.  The ones complaining are sad because they spent the time and effort to research a tank that trades firepower or speed for really thick armor, and then people nullify their armor by firing gold.

In their defense, these folks have a point.  All tank designs are a compromise between speed, firepower, and protection.  If we have premium ammo to nullify someone's choice of protection, shouldn't there also be some way to nullify peoples' choices of speed or firepower?  It puts superheavies at a disadvantage compared to other classes and makes the rational choice, "Always buy the fast tanks with good guns, because nobody can take that away from you by pressing the "2" key."

But on the other hand, screw superheavy tanks.   They were a dumb idea that wouldn't have worked, and there are too many city maps where they reign supreme.  Speed and gunnery are partly nullified on those maps because flanking is often impossible and you can't snipe from cover.

And arty players can point out that Spall Liners do nullify their choice of firepower over both speed and armor.

I never cared what people are shooting at me. All that matters is if it did damage or not.

Oh dear the weekly Gold Ammo thread ... It seems WG policy to increase armour on ALOT of Tanks with the main purpose is for us to press 2 !!!!!!    :P

It's only broken the game to the point that you play most any armored vehicle like it has no armor, unless it's sloped or spaced. The whole mechanics of armor is bad now.

Sides and rear on most tanks seem to be good spots to aim.

Heavies are my least favorite class to play so gold doesn't affect me much seeing as how most light and medium tanks are easily penned my anything same tier.

I generally carry about 2/3 AP, 1/3 APCR and a few token HE that I almost never use. I never pay "gold" for it. I feel that they are my credits to do with as I please, and if I am good enough to earn enough to be able to afford to use APCR, why not. In general I don't use them, unless I am bottom tier going against a top tier heavy and/or if the game is on the line and it is down to me and a few enemies, then I will switch over, if I think it will help.

Oh I'm not to lazy to aim when I'm in my T 54 I'm  aiming for the weak spot with HEAT hoping for a high roll. Premium ammo is not a default amplifier of skill some tanks like the Comet almost require you to use premuim exclusively when bottom tier

Pushing the 2 key bottom tier in a Comet for instance isn't a skill amplifier it's a mosketo bite LoL.

That's good that the lighter quicker tanks aren't affected as much because they still have their DPM and mobility. Too bad for the slow, larger vehicles balanced around armour that don't have the DPM and mobility.
