I believe that skill based MM is actually here.

Here is the situation: Two accounts are used from the same machine, same settings, same vanilla client.

Playing the same tanks (tier 10), same equipment, equivalent crew skills.

Stats for accounts: Account 1 - Green, Account 2 purple (Wn8 3k+)

Account 1  enjoys WoT easy mode, extremely enjoyable out of 20 games played only 3 were full tier 10s and there is also obvious XVM camo. favorable RNG.

Account 2  out of 20 games played 12 were full tier 10s, arty magnet and "I will yolo to kill a stat padder" magnet, average RNG

With this, I have to congratulate WG on successfully implementing skill based MM.

Random =/= consistent. 20 games is way too small of a sample size to prove anything.

Save yourself the money.  Here is a link how to make your own with regular aluminum foil.  Taught by a college professor so you know it will work and last.

Both of those situations have occurred on my behalf. Therefore claiming that it happens to certain stat levels is inaccurate.

Except that xvm is used by many in game and having a purple stat can and will get your focused on more. That really is kind of like skill based mm. If that same purple player played a tomato account, there is no doubt he would be focused on much less. But, being only 1/15th of a team does trend a player toward 50% because they are such a small part. If it were 5v5, those 60% players might me 80% players instead. The 45% players in a 5v5 mode might be 25% players instead. The larger the team size, the less impact any one player has. For example, if randoms were 100 v 100, this would make everyone almost exactly 50% w/r no matter what skill they are. If it were 1v1, you would have players with 95% w/r and players with 5% w/r.

There is the rumor that MM adjusts for crew levels: that tanks with 2-3 crew skills get a tougher match than those that have none (under 100%).

We did some tests way back when that seemed to confirm this (did about 30 battles, so take that for what it is worth). Tanks with skilled crews were routinely placed at low-tier and with players with far fewer games (red guys) than those with no skills.

Now this was before the 9.20 update, so it may have changed.

I have 2 crew skills in my Jagdpanther II and at one point was low tier in 31 straight games with that unit. It seemed like every game I was going up against green/purple guys with 60k+ battles to their name while I was in an ocean of red with dudes that purchased a tier 8 premium after playing 2000 games. The unit seemed like it was cursed.

A tin foil hat adds a lot of depth to your game. So, yes, if you plan on playing tens of thousands of matches, get a hat and get speculating!

That doesn't sound like the results of rigged MM, but being XVM focused.

But if you're dead set on that hat here's a song to go with it.

You can have mine, discarded at 10K battles about 2 years ago. Wrinkled, worn, but still covers head.

Your welcome!

It may get you focused more, but also there is the opposite of this. There are some players see the purple and are disheartened that the game is stacked against them, which affects their gameplay. Or those that see the purple player and play very passively against that player as a consequence (i.e. being scared).

Talks about 20 battles as if that means anything...

I for one will not just stand by while you badmouth Wargaming over this.  If you want true skill-based MM then you want to wait for 15 minutes for a match, right?  Because that's what will happen, and you'll probably be the first to whine about that.

It's a free game and it's fun.  Stop trying to find things to complain about.

I never purchase a OEM tinfoil hat, the homebuilt ones aren't that hard to make and are much better.

Interesting how my 20 match observation has started an informative discussion. Regardless of whether there is a skill based MM or XVM targetting, I still love this game.

I buy the OEM ones because I figure that people working in tinfoil hat factories have families to support too.

I read somewhere that the Red Hat Society has formed the Tin Foil Head Cover Group, these could include disillusioned gamer's and their supporters. More details to follow as they become available.
