So I picked up a 1080ti to replace my really old 780ti which I use to play with a1080p, 144 mhz monitor.  I was expecting to get 144 fps with my 1080ti however, I'm only getting 120-127 with spikes down to 100 randomly.  Gpu is only showing 40-50% load and my cpu is only showing 20-22% usage.  Is it normal to only get 100-127 fps or should I be expecting more?

Computer is set to max power, same with card.  Nothing stands out as limiting the gpu.

CPU: I7-4770k 3.5ghz

GPU: evga 1080ti

PSU: 1000 g2

Mobo: Z87-HD3

Windows 76 4bit (ultimate edition)

Solved, Game cap is 127

That appears to be the cap for this game engine. Frame rate is largely dependent on the game being played. 127 is pretty darn good.

Oh...and why are you running just a 1080p monitor on that card? That card is complete overkill for that. That card is meant for a 4k screen.

My guess is, if you didn't have a little number telling you it's "only" 120 - 127 fps, you wouldn't know the difference.

I don't think the naked eye could ever tell the difference between 127 fps and 144 fps.

Have a "Asus ROG Swift PG27A" on the way, GPU just came in first, so was just using my old 27" LGs till it came in.

Notice it because of the jumps down to 100, made me look into it.

You are hitting the cap of the game engine.

Hope you didn't buy a 1080ti just for this game, a 1070ti is more than good enough.

Anything over 30 fps and you won't visually see any difference.

You'll never see 144fps with this game.  127 is the cap.

Uh, no this is completely incorrect.  There are many people who can tell the difference, visually in a game, between 30, 60, 90 and even higher fps.

My high point is around 90fps.  lower and I will notice.  higher and I won't notice.

Must be annoying , as almost every single light has a frequency of 60hz.  What's it like living most of your life with lights blinking on and off constantly?

Fantastic lie your 90...  Not true however.

Buys a 1080 Ti to play World of Tanks at 1080p...

A 3 GB 1060, maybe even a 1050 Ti would be enough to play this game at max frame settings on it's "best" graphics settings.

Buying a 1080Ti for 1080p gaming is a waste when even ancient cards like the gtx 680 and 7970 are still holding up lol, 1440p and 4k the 1080ti shines even when installed in older systems.

My 1080Ti gets me an avg of around 110 FPS on this game in 4K with every setting at max. Like others have said, this game seems to have a hard cap on the FPS, but anything over 60 is fine by me.

Wow, Must be nice not to notice those things. anything under 60, and I start getting a headache, and a bit of nausea!

The 1080 ti is not meh. I run a 1080 on max settings with 127 fps with a predator x34 4k and the graphics are bad a$$. You will notice a big difference when you get your 4k monitor.

There is a huge difference between 60 frames per second and 60hz AC current powering a light. AC current has no off state, the light is continuously receiving power and therefor illuminated continuously. A simple strobe light is all that is needed to prove that people can in fact differentiate between 30, 60, 90 or even 120+ fps. The myth of 30fps being the max the human eye can differentiate has been debunked countless times in the last 20 years alone, test it yourself before stating it as a fact.

with a hardware change as big as this, I'd wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows and your games.  even if this game's fps is capped.

when I upgraded my card this last time (to a 1050ti not a 1080) I just installed the card and the newest drivers and booted up one of my games, because I was anxious to check it out, and the performance wasn't what everyone said it should be.  so I wiped the drive and reinstalled everything and it was WAY better.  a full reinstall just lets windows and everything shake hands with the new hardware much better.
