I was wondering which arty people felt is the best in game (above tier 6 only).

Personally, I think the GW Panther is best. It has good mobility, accuracy, aim time, reload speed, wide aim arc and damage. The only downside seem to be a low shell arc.

VI - M44 high dpm and ok accuracy once your crew is higher end, low stun rate so won't complete some missions

VI - FV304 lobber I've pulled 3k games in if you get in to the right spot  It doesn't stun its a completely different style of play but some people make it work very well

VII - M12/GW Panther are pretty comparable with GW Panther possibly having slight edge

VIII - the FV207 is fairly decent, accurate, hitter, all VIII arties have low DPM

IX - limited experience but I found the FV3805 very good if you keep the lower or mid gun.  Top gun with .74 dispersion is just trash

X - limited experience but I enjoy the ConquerorGC.  pick key positions that you can angle the consolidated heavies in every game.  In paris I pulled 3 heavies on the SE corner for a 6k damage game real easy.

T92 on paper is superior to the conqGC, French 58 is auto loading, turreted, high dpm

all in all if you are looking for 1 line to run I would run american top to bottom

Agreed. T92 was king with AP rounds. I hear a lot of people don't even go to it anymore, they just stop at the M53 and call it there.

The M53/55 is absurdly OP and needs a **** huge nerf.

It really depends on a map, on some maps CGC will be better because it can hit targets behind cover.  It can also relocate reasonably fast.  On a large open maps it has range problem and shell speed issue.

Batchat is great in random games, including Grand battles; however, useless in CW and SH... as you get to see lost of Mice and Godzillas...  I remember bouncing 3 shells in a row driving a Maus.

German and Russian are in between, though I've seen Russian used al lot on more open maps with success.   German is just too slow.

Speaking of slow, tier 10 American seams powerful; however, I did not buy it yet... maybe because M53/M55 can be played in CW on open maps.

I thought they limited CW to T10 only tanks at some point.  I know my M53/55 was preferred over the T92 back in CW 1.0 but I thought it was no longer usable in CW.  I might have to level up a new crew for it since I moved them to the T92.

@OP - The US and British lines have several good ones depending on the tier you're after.  I've heard the German line is decent but falls off after I think the GW Panther.  So far I haven't minded moving up the French line too much but they have comparatively no splash (but are more accurate and I did manage to kill+splash in a single shot with my T6 French arty back when that was still a mission).

My best picks for Arty would be the CGC, T92, and the Object 261.  For low tier I'd say M44, Grille, and G. W. Panther.  Happy hunting.

You can use tier 9 tanks in Operation Gambit...

Tier VII German arty and Tier VII and VIII French arty are my favorites. Be sure to play them and kill all the whiners who [edited]about arty. Serve them up a can of whoop [edited]with these beasts and drive them to quit the game.

I think all arty are good when they are in good positions. Some places might be large bodies of water.

It is non-informative posts like these that inspire me to take the M53/M55 out for a handful of battles and make it rain! :arta:

I didn't have the M53/M55 when it had AP rounds, as it was one of the last SPGs I got around to playing with.  I had researched and owned the T92 long before the M53/M55 was introduced.  Anyway, I put in just a 75% crew and began to find out what many already knew;  that with its decent mobility, excellent turrent traverse and decent accuracy, tier for tier it's one of the best SPGs in the game.  Better IMO than the T92, which has always been kind of all or nothing home run hitter.  Better than the Obj 261 that seems to have had its damage capacity nerfed into oblivion.  Better even than the leFH, which seems to have wild streaks of misses and hits.  Better than the FV 3805, whose inaccuracy with the top gun makes me want to pull my hair out.  I don't know about the CGC yet as I've had it for only a couple of weeks now.

Anyway, the M53/M55 almost always is a pleasure to play, except when you are on a reload and an enemy light makes a jailbreak rush at you of course.  Aa a mediocre player, I don't find this SPG to be OP however, as it doesn't hit fast enough or hard enough to carry a battle most times;  the enemy team has to enjoy open camping in order for this SPG to really deal a true carry game.

For me:

Tier 7 GW panther

Tier 8 Lorr 155 51

Tier 9 M53 (probably best overall)

Tier 10 t92, but it's the only tier 10 arty I've played

Prior to the great arty "nerf" the m40/43 was my favorite. Still my most played tank. I sold it and moved the crew to the t92 as it reminds more of how the m40 used to be. Haven't played past tier 7 on the russian, british, or german line except on the test servers. Friends that play german arties tell me enough that I'm not sure I want to go past 7. The russian line is "interesting". I want to go higher on the british, I've just had other tanks I wanted to get first. The m53 and GW panther are always a pleasure to play. Good crews, BIA, and the right equipment are essential IMO for all arties.

I would probably go

V - Grille
VI - M44
VII - Lorraine 155 50
VIII - Lorraine 155 51
IX - M53/55
X - Conquer GC

Pre nerf I would have gone French arty for tiers IX-X but they’ve become the arty equivalent of spotting focused light tanks, incredibly reliant upon teammates to do the damage for them

"balanced" "prevents camping"

It does prevent camping. When you have a cocky Rhm. camping in a dark corner thinking he is god, artillery gives him the ol' HE boot that makes him run screaming. Players in my clan, as well as myself, both play arty and do our best to support the team rather then ourselves. The problem though is when we give to the team, the team doesn't give back. Arty is balanced. Arty prevents camping. Also, even if Wargaming removed arty (which they won't because after the nerf so many things went right they could give a rats [edited]about doing anything to arty right now), you would just find something new to [edited]about. As predicted by the Devs, TD's were next because they are great concealment snipers. People want this game to be "bubble wrapped" to protect their incredibly stupid moves and decisions.

I wish it would come back... I miss my beloved AP rounds! Sadly, after the nerf, the devs have completely dropped the idea of tweaking with arty anymore. According to them the "numbers" (Whatever those may be) are good to them, and therefore have no grounds for change.
