Smh just heard a DJ refer to Steve Perry as the original vocalist for Journey.  So here I am posting this thread. :P

Great band and most folks know only the later incarnation with Steve Perry at the helm on vocal duties or maybe even some of the lead singers after him.  And not to take anything from Perry because I like him and Journey when he was the frontman, but truth is the first three albums featured Gregg Rolie on keyboards and lead vocals and the band was a tad different before leaving the progressive leanings to the more pop oriented later stuff ala early vs. later Genesis.  But that's another thread. :P

Rollie also was in Santana (he's in the Hall with both bands).  It was him and Schon who had also been with Santana that formed the band initially.  Anyhoo...

So Rollie basically took a back seat on vocals when Perry came in?  The early albums are really quite good.

Neat, their early stuff has a Kansas/ Boston/ Blue Oyster Cult feel.

Anyone else in the HOF twice?.  I'm thinking George Harrison, Paul McCartney and John Lennon come to mind. Maybe Ozzy too. Anyone else?

Edit: Eric Clapton could be in several times.

There are several that I'm aware of and not to take anything away from most of those in the Hall including those you mention and Rolie, but to be honest the HoF has some issues both with transparency and making political choices. The exclusion of some acts makes one question the Hall's relevance for lack of a better word.  And a few acts are, to me...   I'll leave it as questionable. Anyhoo...

According to Wiki (yeah I know but the Halls site doesn't have an option for multiple inductees) there are 22 multiples.  Clapton the only 3 timer and all of the Beatles twice.  Anyhoo...

Maybe Clapton can make it five with Blind Faith and Derick and the Dominoes.

Some of the bands that have been inducted, should not have even been considered. It diminishes the value of what they are trying to achieve. PC crap, wrong genre, etc..  But, I do enjoy a lot of the performances and homage paid to some of the greats that received the recognition they deserve.

Ditto on both counts Klaatu.

Can you derail your own thread?

LOL Tod plus one.

Klaatu I remember that as I was watching it and as big a Tull fan as I am as well as Metallica I was like wow.  Regardless Ian and the band can rock.

The next year they split the categories and soon after the upset Tull cheekily ran a picture of a flute sitting on top of a pile or rebar stating The flute is a heavy, metal instrument.
