I really enjoyed the Holiday Ops event. Only frustration I had was the randomness (and riggedness) of the ornaments. I was ONE level 5 ornament away from the modern Christmas camo. One little candy cane. I had at least 6 tries. I bought a few $6 gift boxes. I guess WG wants you to get at least the $20 box. I even stripped my tree and made shards on the last day. No luck. Oh well, it was still fun. At least I got a Lorr 40t out of one of the boxes. One thing I know for sure, I'm not gonna eat a candy cane in a loooong time. :P

I learned that there was a logic method to the process - instead of playing with it each evening, to not convert any 'processed' ornaments until the end.  This way I wasn't accidentally using points toward a tier 4 or tier 3 ornament that I would later earn through just opening earned boxes.

I think a lot of people converted ornaments early without real direction or thought into it, and thus wasted their chances of fully researching out any particular line.

How do you apply the discounted (or in some case) free tanks?  I've been out with the flu and haven't logged in for a little while.  The Holiday ops page is gone, but they said that you had until March to do this.

Look for a little note when you log in that states you have unused rewards, then click the button.

after seeing everyone who bought a couple boxes and ended up getting a six pack of type 59's i got excited and went a total of about 100 bucks deep into the boxes. I ended up pulling a sentinel out of the last batch i bought. Super disappointed.

If you are looking for your un-chosen holiday rewards, you need to click the notification button on the lower right of the screen( looks like a mega-phone) before you play a game, or you have to log off and log back in. to see the notice.

I did enjoy it. I thought it was better than last years Holiday Ops. Plenty of silver and consumables won thru regular tanking. I bought a total of 17 gift boxes and did feel that I received some good prizes in return (gold, 3 premium tanks, consumables, etc.). I will agree with many about the frustration regarding decorations needed to complete either their tree/house/snowman/lights or a set. Receiving the same Level 5 decoration that you already have thru gift boxes or the decoration generator seems rather suspect or not quite random.

I have one question. I forgot to choose which tanks I wanted to apply my festive level discounts too. Am I SOL on this or is their some way to still claim this that I am unaware of?

Edit: Never mind. Just saw the previous post. Guess it pays to read the notifications.

Thanks.

Yes, I really enjoyed Holiday Ops this season, but also experienced some "non-randomness" in getting ornaments - I decided to try one of the $6 set of 3 gift boxes to get level Vs, but got 3 of the same (all candy canes, ironically) - that turned me off of buying any more gift boxes -

I did like how the missions got recycled every ten days or so, but was hoping that for the final weekend the % of the higher level ornaments wd be increased (didn't need a 100 more level ones...) +

I earned enough Gold from buying boxes to buy a new premium tier 8 tank that I'm pretty happy with, and one that I'm really not happy with, lol.

My quick perspective: awesome event, but just barely missed out on 2/4 Xmas styles due to the difficulty in crafting them.  They require 1440 shards for each T5 item that's not random and some of the item categories have up to only a one in four chance of crafting the right thing.  Sometimes you craft the same wrong item several times in a row.  It was very slow to earn enough decorations to break down with the regular missions that came out every Friday only which were completed very quickly with my daily average of 30-50 battles per day.  This is on top of the ~100 premium boxes I either bought or was gifted.

The GUI was very difficult to figure out as well.  Other than that great idea.

Best Holiday Ops yet. Well done. And I got a Type 59, finally, after many years. So, Happy.

I enjoyed Holiday ops. It was great unlocking the prizes and getting to buy some special vehicles. I got the T92. Suggestions for improvement would be an optional way to open all gifts at once as it can be time consuming especially if you let them bank up. Other thing for me was after achieving level X it said you could continue to decorate but could only change a level V decoration to another level V so it seemed like there was nothing more to gain. Not sure if I misunderstood but I though there may have been more benefits to decorating beyond level X.

Thanks

Great event. Definitely kept me playing wot through the holidays. Really enjoyed the xp and credit boost from decorating,  boxes were awesome because it's not really gambling if you at least get gold. Well done. Advent calender is fun too!

Suggestions from others to echo.

1. Have some way to open all boxes at once, very boring to click through 40+ boxes in a row (I would let them build up because I didn't want to waste time opening them while personal reserves were ticking).

2. Allow the exact selection of the item to be crafted. Too many times feeling ripped off by decorider I just stopped enjoying it. Seems strange to go 0/6 crafting a tree topper with 50% chance to get the one you want.... no this did not make me buy more boxes, but did make me realise I really don't need to get the collection.

3. Rewards of female crew and tech tree tank discounts were awesome!
