+1 / -1 matchmaking for all tiers preference. After 30 seconds in queue +2/-2. This fixes the lie that there aren't enough people to do +1/-1

I just got a Type 59 and it's refreshing how much fun it is to play a decent tier 8 tank that can only see tier 9 and below.

I agree that the 3/5/7 format has made tier 8 less enjoyable in general. My personal opinion is that 5/10 is optimal.

based on my limited data I'd agree.  I get the fewest blowouts in the 5-10 format, and the most in same tier battles.  3-5-7 is somewhere in the middle.

Well, tier X is so costly to operate at between repair and shell costs, it stands to reason WG would want to give the tier X tankers some "fodder" to demolish with impunity.

In all seriousness though, I think the answer is pretty straightforward- break it down to 2 tier spread- 4/5, 5/6, 6/7, 7/8, 8/9, 9/10, etc.

Every now and again, when RNGesus smiles, I'll land an all tier 8 game, and that is absolute heaven. If they tossed in more single-tier games, even a fragment more, that would go a long way to easing the current issues in my mind.

My 2 cents.

and it's made tier 8 no better than the newb tiers.   Tier 8 gameplay is in the sewer, and unless you are playing a carry tank, you're going right down the drain with them.  I was looking forward to playing the swedish TDs, but being so team dependent in this era of zero team work makes them unbearable to play.  Shoot, fall back, shoot, fall back until you are sitting with arty.  At least they have the sense to go drown when the enemy is upon them.  I have this crazy idea that i might be able to do something about it.

If I was wearing tinfoil I'd swear that once I got within 20k xp of the tier 9 strv, they kept making me lose in a vain attempt to get me to spend money to skip the gawdawfulness that is tier 8.  Being the idiot that I am, I refused and played right through it to the tune of sub 40% win rates

I'm going back to my czech autoloader mediums.  At least they can do something about the festering pile of dung filling up tier 8 right now.  It's today's meta; might as well not fight it.

Like a President once said, "There you go again"

Tier 8 was broken and busted, before all of this dude.  Don't go trying to shift the blame suddenly on noobs getting tier 8's in game now.  Wargaming broke Tier 8 match making back when patch 9.20 was dropped.  Everyone know's it too.  Several You Tube videos have and were put up about in well documented, by Aging Jedi, Quicky, and other streamers etc.  There several threads on this forum still up about it.

Always blaming players, defending Wargaming's Match Maker, or blaming Noobs or whomever.

There you go again Reptoman.

I like the new set up. Those days when you would be the only person in bottom tier, maybe one mate at lowest tier against 13-14 tier IX & Xs? That sucked.

I never had a problem being bottom tier.  I am thoroughly accustomed to it from playing my LTs in the old MM.  but I do have a problem playing with noobs.

Are there no team or tank company battles? Seems one could eliminate all MM concerns and only play with skilled mates if one stopped playing the random format.

when WG decided a couple years ago to remove battle tier 12, tier 8 went straight into the shi**er...

and if WG would realize that balanced match means more games go down to the wire, which means more games where people will work as a team, they might actually grow. but nope, they are bad at balancing matches... all they would need to do, is use the PR system they have (i know its not perfect, but its good enough to do this) and once the 30 tanks have been selected, move the palyers back and forth until the total PR (personal rating) between the teams is within 1,000 - 2,000.. enough of the Team A's total PR for all 15 players is 45k while team B's total PR is 95.5K.. Balance it out ffs.. close matches are fun matches.. you would believe how many times matches do come down to 4v4 and people will actually work together, because its exciting, and fun

And obviously, they as I stated above, their throwing of Tier 8 "under the bus" didn't stop there.  As we know many people put money into the game buying tier 8 tanks to make silver to keep playing the game, and thus WG turns them into cannon fodder for tier X, and decreasing their ability to make credits, because they have to fire Gold to pen tier X's, and they cannot stay alive long enough to make credits as before, trying to money gouge people back to the premium shop $ etc.  Same deal as throwing tier 6 constantly more against tier 8's now etc.

But, instead we have certain people on the forum who simply type BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, when it's something they get checked on they don't want to hear.

Why Wargaming bites the hand that feeds is simply greed and Ignorance.  But soon the Net Neutrality worm is about to turn on them in the future as things roll forward.  But, then again it will for all on-line gamers as well.

Probably WG getting as much money out of us as possible before things go down hill at some point?

1/2       2/3       2/3/4       4/5/6       5/6/7       6/7       7/8       8/9       9/10

+1 matches should be 5/10, +2 matches should be 3/5/7. Stop the +2 matches at 6/7.

Power creep + more new tanks means that the disparity in tank ability is greater than ever. I feel like this fixes a lot of problems.

Over the years that I played WG games, I eventually came to this conclusion.

Whatever feature of the game that I don’t like and would prefer to be changed is basically a “button” that the devs have DECIDED not to press.  It is not that they would love to implement said correction, but are short on programmers or just unaware of the specific features of their own game.

The devs have looked closely at the game and decided to make it the way it is, for better or worse.  What is considered most entertaining to a dev in another part of the world is likely to be different from what a customer would prefer on the other side of the planet.  Plus there are no guarantees that what you actually like about the game will remain intact after the next patch.

TL/DR:  Just play for fun and consider any monetary support for the game as a sunk cost paid for enjoyment you have already received, nothing more or less is implied or guaranteed.

Those suggestions are far too reasonable and likely to cause contentment. Begone, crazytalker!

Except those steamers were saying it would hit preferential MM tanks mainly.

This seems to make more sense than skilled based MM.  Although I would favor some sort of skilled based parameter, that kind of balancing would probably increase the length of the average battle (perhaps even double it):

1.  WG profits go down

2.  Tank Grinds require twice as much time to complete

3.  Personal Reserves don't cover as many battles/hour

WoWS has 20 minute battles and the average battle time is probably close to 15 minutes.  After playing WoT that feels like an eternity between battles, especially if you are grinding for something like Commander Skills or Tech Tree ships.

Maybe I am nuts, and I would like to hear from Neatoman on this....

I don't being a VIII scout, or arty, or TD in an 10 match.  However, it is hell being a medium and to a lesser extent, heavy.  I think this is because of alpha creep and a related armor creep.  The monster alpha Xs can take you out so, so fast.  In other words, I think WG went too far with over 1k alpha guns, and huge auto-loader clips.
