For all those folks living in the northern hemisphere, Happy Winter Solstice! :)

The darkest evening of the year.

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."

-Robert Frost

This was one of my fathers favourite poems, and it's becoming one of personal favourites, too...especially this time of year. Here is the poem in its entirety:

I hear Santa has gotten quite mad
At a hacker Elf with his iPad
Who stole all his lists,
WikiLeaks now insists
They’ll publish who’s good and who’s bad.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Santa is soon on his way
Bringing toys for the kids Christmas day.
Despite all his freight
He’s never been late
‘Cause he never goes thru TSA.

^...:D

~Cheers Dude!

On that note, here's another one of my personal favourite artists. A wonderful song writer, a poet, and lyrical musical genius:

Nice to see you're still at it, still waiting for my Christmas picture from you.  Really liked the 2015 version.  Picture was worth 1000 words.  Happy Holidays ISS.

One of my Dad's favorites was "If" by Rudyard Kipling. Part poem, part life instruction. I read it at his funeral.

Definitely love this work by Frost - Such a beautiful use of the English language to paint a vivid scene...

In a completely different vein of poetry, here's some alternate lyrics to "Up on the Housetop" that my sister and I jokingly came up with when we were bored once:

Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

        -William Shakespeare

This is another great classic poem for the season, and a personal favourite as well.

The Cremation of Sam McGee

By Robert Service

Spoiler

And I just found an interesting narration of this classic Robert Service poem, by none other than 'the man in black', himself....Johnny Cash:

^..Always a favourite!

Well, I guess we are in the 'thick of winter', as they say, and I just discovered an interesting metal-version of Antonio Vivaldis' Winter:

From the Four Seasons, here it is. Enjoy... :B

*Oh, and for all those living in the Northern Hemisphere, remember to take those vitamin D supplements.

~Cheers!
