Help!

Has anyone updated their computers to the latest Windows update 1709 and been unable to start the game?  I did a full uninstall/clean reinstall after this lousy update and now the game won't start.  Client opens, but after pushing Play, the screen gives back the message "World of Tanks has stopped working..." then the obligatory garbage Microsoft sends.

If anyone has any information or similar experience, I would appreciate some help.

Thanks,

Update 1709 affects any game that you play in fullscreen mode.  MS is aware, has no fix yet.

I just updated to 1709 the other day, none of my games worked in fullscreen, they just mashed up the screen image and then froze out my computer.  So I reverted back to version 1703 and now everything works again.

Now I'm just perpetually delaying updating because Microsoft has no idea what they're doing.  And this is a big update with a bunch of garbage I don't want or need.  Personally, I think they should just bring back Windows XP...it worked.

If you want to restart or shutdown without updating just alt-F4 while on your desktop and the old shutdown options window appears giving you the option to shutdown with no update installations.

Run capability troubleshooter and click on WOT, then it will ask you about the windows.  see if that works.

Just do a system restore and rollback the OS to before the Windows patch.

Assuming Windows 10.

1709 has wrecked a lot of PCs.

I've loaded 1709 on about 5000 computers so far, including all of my own machines. The only issue reported to us is that some people lost their custom desktop background. Otherwise, everything works.

What has caused some issues was the recent office update. If it locked up during install, it pretty much locked out everyone, including admins. No big deal, we keep images of good loads.

I stuck with Windows 7 on most of my machines.

I'm running 1709 on Windows 10 Home and haven't had any issues with it, save for the occasional random minimizing of the game in battle that has no real cause that I can.

I made a post about 1709 over a month ago....   http://forum.worldof...__fromsearch__1

The way MS distributes updates and fixes is just stupid. Some people got the fixes, some haven't yet. Check your updates for kb4048955.

1709 (win 10 home) didn't corrupt tanks for me, but my framerate went into the toilet.  Rolling back to 1703 fixed it.

OP, I think your thread's title is misleading.

Windows 10 Home on this machine: I was a bit anxious before getting the 1709 update but no issues here.

UPDATE:  I checked Google and there was a LOT of grief over Windows 10 1709.  Several offered fixes, and I tried the Settings--Gaming and turned everything off and the problem was solved.  All seems to be well now.

Thanks for all your input.
