UPDATE:  I checked Google and there was a LOT of grief over Windows 10 1709.  Several offered fixes, and I tried the Settings--Gaming and turned everything off and the problem was solved.  All seems to be well now.

Thanks for all your input.

This. its the sinble biggest issue for users is the new gaming mode crap that they no longer allow you to disable, so you have to turn off all the features.

the other big bug i saw was older realtek wireless drivers are assigned to the wrong products, you can try manually installing the correct drivers, or just buy a newer wireless card. (sorry laptop users, you are screwed and get to manually fix it)

the last thing many people forget is every time you get a windows 10 version upgrade, its not. its a complete reinstall of the OS and all drivers are REVERTED TO WINDOWS WHQL STOCK. basically, you need to reinstall all your drivers yourself, because your computer is using crippled versions that SUCK.

for gamers, thats motherboard, video and audio at a minimum. you should also check storage if you use higher end configs or RAIDed drives, etc.

personally, i do not allow windows to do upgrades. rather i get a new ISO for the current version and rebuild my PC instead. MUCH less problems this way.

I have a similar problem with 1709 - game starts, then crashes a little after selecting "Play"; it never even makes it to the opening video clip.

I have rolled back to 1703, and it works fine.  Updated to 1709 again and the same results as the first time (game crash).  I tried 1709 and turning off all settings in the Settings-Gaming, but that still did not stop the early game crash.  Not sure what the solution is, other than to stay with 1703.

hi all - had my laptop die with the W10 update on Monday - OS reinstalled by tech shop - reloaded WOT and of course doesn't work.

Here's what I just did and it worked -

1. double click the game start icon to open the initial screen

2. Click on Support top right to open that area

3.  Click Add Game and Launcher to Windows Firewall Exceptions

4.  Also clicked on check and repair game integrity

after doing that I was able to open the game and log in as normal.

Try it and see if it works for you

Had the same issues with 1709 back in November (when it was first released) -- Just today reinstalled it on that same machine AND had updated drivers from NVidia -- updated WoT to current version (the computer in question had not been turned on for 18 days), reinstalled my Aslain mods, and everything worked fine... did NOT have to change the windows setting and/or the WoT game settings that had previously crashed.

So -- it appears -- the NVidia drivers combined with the 1709 patch now works... at least it does for me.

Had to reinstall my sound drivers after the patch but otherwise everything works like it did before.

This update screwed me up just before the holidays.  I'm putting it off as long as Windows will let me keep clicking the snooze button.  Hopefully it'll be fixed by then, because I really don't trust that it is fixed for everybody at this point.  Since the only thing I do on my computer is use the internet and play games, an update that adds crap I don't want and will never use but also destroys the main reason I have the computer is an update I can do without.

Well -- I'm back -- it would seem there's been about 8 "patch" updates from Win10 in the 1709 version since mid March -- I was using my desktop computer and NOT my laptop... hit the road for business and guess what -- Hit the PLAY button - initial screen for WoT comes up briefly like 3-5 seconds and then just folds up and dies...

No joy in reinstallation, clean install of current drivers from NVidia, game mode (Win10 item) OFF, game bar OFF, no idea what the heck goes on ... but for now my WoT gaming days are limited to when I can get to my PC at home.... dead dead and dead... way too many updates inside of 1709 release to roll them all back.

One of the Windows updates put my laptop into airplane mode and would not permit me to unlock it.
Did a recovery and was fine. 2 days later it happened again  then just stayed stuck in updating.
Fed up.  Unplugged it and just use my desktop pc now.
Bill Gates owes me.

I've run Windows 10 since day one and have had only one issue the entire time: my ancient laser printer no longer worked except with a generic driver. (The thing was 20 years old, so hey...I needed a new one anyway.)
