My dad and I both decided to buy tier 8 tanks and grind them together with the 50% discount from Holiday Ops. I chose the Caernarvon while my dad chose the T28 Prot, and while I'm doing well in the Caernarvon, my dad is really struggling in the T28 Prot. I suggested that he play it as a heavy tank considering its armor, but that doesn't seem to be working, especially since almost every game is against tier 9 and 10 tanks. How would you guys suggest playing it? Is camping really the best? I'm usually only good in medium tanks. :P

Play it like a support heavy tank when mid or bottom tier. Play it as a Heavy tank when top tier. The American turreted TD line is what the American heavy line should have been.

Try to keep it hull down as much as possible, exposing just the turret.  That turret is a beast and when combined with the big gun, it's one of my favourite tds to play.

gun isn't a sniper. it is support for the heavies, you can't go alone in this tank. the armor is a myth, unless someone has no clue.

You can’t rely on the armor unless your enemies are tier 6, consider any bounces lucky. Sit just behind your frontline heavies and take your shots while the enemy is reloading.

I loved the T28 Prototype. The T30 is even better.

Things to keep in mind:

1. It's god aweful slow

When everyone zooms off at the start of a match, you need to pick which side you go to carefully. Your slow, so you won't be able to re position. If everyone lemmings to one side, you still have to go the other, otherwise you will never catch up and never get off a shot. Better to die and get off 2 shots, then never fire. My opinion anyway.

2. The armor is pretty poor.

You need to pick a choke point, preferably with a rock/building or some other type of cover. Shoot, return to cover, move. No cover? angle your tank slightly to your opponent. Too much and they can pen the paper thin sides, but a little, 10-15 degrees, will make a lot of guns bounce, but not tier 10s. You also need to wriggle the turret when reloading, as the cheeks have low armor.

The gun is good and pens well.

Unless you are top tier, you have to play more conservative in exposing yourself, playing second line, etc.

Once you get a feel for it,
