ATOMICMPC: TOP FIVE WORLD OF TANKS TIPS
The famous Australian web-source for gamers Atomic Maximum Power Computingshares "some hard-won World of Tanks wisdom on being a better tank commander. Are you up to the challenge?"
Once upon a time the author of the article was riding his beloved Tiger 1 tank and suddenly he came to a thought there are several basic tactics which would be useful for all World of Tanks players. Thus, he continued playing and collected five major tips for those who want to enhance their combat skills!
"1. Work as an armoured team. With that in mind, be careful of getting too far ahead of your team-mates and getting surrounded. Even in a tank that is Tiers above the enemies you are taking on singlehandedly, you can be swamped pretty much zerged by faster, more agile tanks.
2. Practice tight fire control. Tracking a tank is supremely useful, as that immobile target is easier for artillery to hit, and it will have its aim thrown off as it slews to a halt, and that player will be forced to possibly use up a vital Repair Kit just to keep moving.
3. Study the ground. For instance, if rolling down a gentle slope towards the enemy, you need to be aware that they may be able to fire directly into your engine deck.
4. Hug cover like a lover. By staying the shadow of a building wall that faces away from likely enemy artillery positions, you effectively block their plunging fire. However, be aware that while you’re doing this, so will others around you – DO NOT BLOCK THEM. Work around them, give them room to move and especially give them room to retreat.
5. GLHF. Take that mantra into your life; no, I mean this seriously. Do not blame your team when you lose (they may deserve, but maybe the enemy is just having a better day), do not rage quit, do not get angry at your artillery support, do not collect $200... wait, wrong game. But you get the idea. This is a magical game where tanks are the only functioning lifeforms and vehicles from the 30s to the 50s all fight happily together. It is the Valhalla of tanks, and is ultimately a very silly (though very good) game. Don’t treat it like life or death, don't set anyone's dog on fire. Good luck; have fun."

OBSOLETE GAMER CHATS WITH WARGAMING'S JEREMY MONROE
With Wargaming.net now firmly planted in North America, Obsolete Gamer took the opportunity to chat with Jeremy Monroe – General Manager of Wargaming America – about World of Tanks and future updates to the game.
Jeremy even touches on the effects that World of Warplanes and World of Battleships will have on Clan Wars, now that they have been announced. Check out a brief excerpt below, and head over to Obsolete Gamer for the full interview!
There are a lot of free-to-play MMO’s out there, but just like paid MMO’s there are the great ones and the rest and World of Tanks is definitely one of the great ones. A number of us here at Obsolete Gamer began playing World of Tanks right after E3 2011 and are still playing to this day.
World of Tanks is becoming wildly popular. What do you think has made the game so popular with gamers?
Tanks! Who doesn’t love Tanks? The game’s a great deal of fun to play and the community is fantastic. I believe we really hit a sweet spot in the market. We’re part shooter, action, strategy and mmo coupled with a respect for the historical authenticity of the era. World of Tanks is a compelling for gamers at any level. It’s fun and it’s free.

WORLD OF TANKS TOOK PAX PRIME BY STORM
This past weekend World of Tanks stormed the PAX Prime convention held in Seattle, WA, bringing with it three days of action-packed battles for fans. The World of Tanks booth was situated in a fantastic location, providing the Wargaming.net team the opportunity to meet and greet gamers from all over the globe.
The best part about PAX Prime, and those at the convention having a chance to play the game, is that they did so while interacting with you, the World of Tanks community. PAX-goers jumped into the game and played on the live North American server, joining battles in a variety of tank tiers, from the T1 Cunningham all the way up to the mighty Maus.
http://statcdn.worldoftanks.com/comcom_v14/uploads/penny_arcade_prizes-s.jpgOn the first day of PAX Prime, Penny Arcade graciously organized a 3-vs.-3 World of Tanks LAN tournament in the PC area of the convention hall. 32 teams bravely signed up to compete for the glory of being crowned winner. The top four teams were also given fantastic prizes to take home with them, including in-game rewards like Gold, Premium account status for up to a week and unlocking certain Premium tanks. Thechampions? They received the best prize of all: Airsoft tanks!
The Wargaming.net team also held special 4-vs.-4 tournaments at the World of Tanks booth throughout the weekend. The winning teams of these tournaments were entered into a raffle to win a variety of prizes, including an Airsoft tank, Steel Series gaming gear and all current Premium tanks. Anyone who participated in the tournament also received a promo code for 350 Gold.
When the team started giveaways at the booth, crowds gathered to participate -- hoping that they could take something home from one of their favorite experiences of the weekend. We gave away many goodies over the course of the three-day event, including World of Tanks t-shirts and buttons, World of Tanks DVDs with a free M22 Locust Premium tank promo code, and much more.

PAX-goers were also treated to a very intimidating sight outside of the convention center: a Panzer III replica tank. Those brave enough to approach it, however, found World of Tanks goodies in their hands as reward.
Even if you didn't have a chance to attend PAX Prime this year, you were still involved in the festivities thanks to the PAX Prime: The Hunt For Geiger And Kodiak event. We'll be announcing the winners later this week, so stay tuned for that.
GAMESCOM AFTERMATH: YES, WE ROCK!
Gamescom 2011 is over, but its aftermath is still shaking the land in Cologne, Germany, and the rest of the world.
World of Tanks development team visited the world-wide known expo, introducing exclusive trailers of the two new titles, World of Battleships and World of Warplanes; besides that, the new teaser of World of Tanks was demonstrated to the public.
Along with meeting WoT players, talking to press and throwing a show-match with the strongest German WoT team Panzerknacker, World of Tanks received two awards from the famous gaming info-sources StrategyInformer and GamingXP!
StrategyInformer gave Rockstar Award to Wargaming.net team, pointing out the flamboyance of the company.
"The 'Rockstar' award is an award we feel should go to the company who was being the most flamboyant (out of who we saw anyway). This year, that award goes to the Wargaming.net people – fresh of the success of World of Tanks, and with two more titles in-bound, not only did Wargaming.net throw an entire party just for WoT, but they also gave many press people actual tanks as well. Kudos guys, kudos."
GamingXP awarded Wargaming.net with Best Newcomer Award for the fresh ideas of 'World of' trilogy. In general, the source bestowed 18 game projects and handed in 9 special awards.
We thank all our players for playing with us and see you on the battlefields!
TENTONHAMMER: WORLD OF BATTLESHIPS INTERVIEW
The well-known gaming info-source TenTonHammer has published the interview about World of Battleships held with Wargaming.net’s Frazer Nash.
"I told you that to tell you this: Frazer’s seen a lot of bad games in his time, so for him to sign on with Wargaming.net full-time, well, he must see a lot of potential in the upstart company’s growing list of online military titles. That, and he’s a true wargaming enthusiast, nothing like a PR shill. After riffing about the good old days of Avalon Hill and SSI, we sat down to talk World of Battleships."
Frazer Nash explains general patterns of gameplay of the upcoming World of Battleships; additionally, he highlights major analogies with World of Tanks and World of Warplanes, which is being developed at the moment.
Likewise, he gives away things that already excite future WoB players; thus, he speaks about the possibility of submarines implementation into the game.
"I’d guessed that submarines might fill the SPG role, but Frazer squashed my Silent Hunter-loving aspirations. “There will be no submarines in World of Battleships. You know and I know and every gamer knows what will happen when players go beyond random battles and begin to put together their own rosters. Everyone will get into a submarine, one poor bastard will get into a boat, the boat will die a horrible death and everyone else will have no one to shoot at. It just makes the game unbalanced, unplayable, and not friendly… If you have a sniper sitting in a tree, killing everyone off, and no one knows where he is, that’s not fun. And that’s the submarine."

LORRAINE 40T: SPEED IN EVERYTHING
Once again GoHaRu.com pleases our tankers and gives the description of the approaching tank Lorraine 40t, which was called 'the crown jewel of French medium tanks'. Thus, in the article GoHaRu.com shares the background history of the real tank and the expectations of players, which are followed by comments provided by World of Tanks game designers.
"GoHa.Ru: Would you tell us why the important place MT9 was given to Lorraine 40t exactly and if some other rearrangements are possible in the branch of French MTs?
Nikita Shpakov: We decided that this very tank would fit the top of the French branch the best. Because it’s both heavier and was installed with 100mm gun. Of course, in theory, changes in the French branch or any other are still possible, since nuances that have to be counted for always crop up over the course of development."

LAGGING POSSIBLE ON AUGUST 28
World of Tanks informs players that World of Tanks game server lagging is possible on August 28th from 00:00 EDT till 7:00 EDT due to technical works carried out.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
GAMING NEXUS: WORLD OF TANKS REVIEW
"I’m encased in seven-and-a-half tons of high-density American-made steel, with a 37mm Gun M1916 on the business end of my World War II tank. Which may sound impressive enough, but I’m actually one of the smallest and weakest vehicles on this battlefield. I’m in a T1 Cunningham light tank, to be specific. It’s the USA’s newbie tank, and it’s only one of 150 authentically crafted tanks, tank destroyers, and self-propelled guns found in Wargaming.net's World of Tanks."
The review by the famous gaming source Gaming Nexus gives the detailed depiction of WoT gameplay and its key features, giving World of Tanks top score 100/100!
The author of the article tries in-game tanks and after struggling on the maps shares his vivid impressions of the game, demonstrating a good portion of combat experience gained. And we see that from his emotional battle story.
The Gaming Nexus article would be useful for newcomers, who wonder why the research is slow or why there are so few maps? And the answer is given in the review, as it reminds players that new maps unlock when you get a tank of a higher tier, as well as it explains what a player shall do when in battle for the first (or sometimes second) time. Eventually, the author comes to a conclusion that we should learn more from our mistakes and victory will come easier next time!

OPERATION AVALANCHE
Operation Avalanche played a significant role in WWII. The main objectives of the Operation were to seize the port of Naples to ensure resupply, and to cut across to the east coast, trapping the Axis troops further south. On 9th of September, about 450 ships partaking in Operation Avalanche assembled off the Salerno coast. The fighting units had sailed from various places, and in order to achieve surprise, there was no preliminary naval or aerial bombardment.
"The Allied invasion of Italy was the Allied landing on mainland Italy on September 3, 1943, by General Harold Alexander's 15th Army Group (comprising Lieutenant General Mark Clark's U.S. Fifth Army and General Bernard Montgomery's British Eighth Army) during the Second World War. The operation followed the successful invasion of Sicily during the Italian Campaign. The main invasion force landed around Salerno on the western coast in Operation Avalanche, while two supporting operations took place in Calabria (Operation Baytown) and Taranto (Operation Slapstick)."
At this stage we are glad to announce a special in commemoration of the events and battles which took place in Italy those years. Soon our outrageous tankers will get special gifts from World of Tanks.
So follow the news and get ready for the special!
MATRYOSHKA'S BACK
"The Russian nesting doll Matryoshka has always attracted attention of people, as it seemed to be a pretty simple doll, but one should not judge a book by its cover - Matryoshka has its own secrets, and once you open it, you find the other one inside..."
And now after a long Matryoshka's vacation, World of Tanks dares to put you into a new quest which will require all player's skills and savvy to get through it! Once again Matryoshka will contain several riddles: one by one, riddle by riddle, you will get to the inner Matryoshka which will hold for you the final secret answer, just as Matryoshka gets smaller the questions will get harder.
Bear in mind, that Matryoshka is cunning and the riddles will be hidden everywhere! They can be found in the forums, Twitter and who knows where else they may be?
Follow the news and get ready for the brainstorm on September 5th!

Things That Prove This Is A Game
In my very humble opinion, this is a game. It is not real life. If it were real life things would be vastly different... and far less fun. I think they have done a pretty good job.
So, here are a few things that prove this is a game. Hopefully people will realize that and treat it as such. - knaT_sdrawkcaB
