Would anyone be able to recommend an online guide or videos concerning the correct way to operate heavy tanks?

Was especially looking for help with the VK 30.01 (H) and the VK 36.01 (H) but have not found any guidance yet.

Well I ain't a MASTER at the tier 5 and I haven't yet played the tier 6 but I did have fun using the VK 30.01H so maybe you can platoon with me and I could show you how I played mine

30.01H is definitely a sniper not a brawler. just try to hold yourself behind the frontline and play more support.

I don't really use it as a sniper.I will actually use it more like a flanker because it has no armor but it does have the speed (imo) also the tier 7 gun it can mount is really good and it will win you some dpm fights

Some tips:

Play like a support, save your hitpoints until lategame when middle/bottom tier(3601H hitpoint pool is massive for a tier6), snipe(waffle gun, if you use 88 in the 3601H pick always targets you can pen),  avoid close range fights and frontal shots(engine gets damaged easily), don't rely on armor(3001 turret is a small target luckily, pretty hard to hit in medium distances when hulldown), FLANK if possible(3601H).

3601H is hard to master, the tank doesn't forgive any mistakes and the 3001 can do 2 things: snipe with the waffle gun or derp).

Mongoose Jake does some great German tanking. Post 5 on this thread covers the VK30.01 H.

One replay for each battle tier, tier6 is easy mode, tier7 HP becomes handy with dealing with tier7 tanks and the gun is still good even without gold, tier8 well...avoid any desfavorable confrontation and take your enemies by surprise  :bush:.

The 30.01 "Mami" and 36.01 "Super Mami"  (Why Mami? because they have so many guns) are built to fight out past 200m preferably nearer 300m.  At that range, the cone and Panther gun will still get through, but your armor starts to be useful against most common guns.  Also, since your sides aren't much worse than the front, ANGLE like 30+ degrees.  This helps the rather bad armor.  Just remember you are a DPM machine, not a peek a boomer, you have to keep the gun working whenever it's even reasonable (too many targets, duck back and relocate).  Map awareness is key, you have to find spots you can see and shoot from at the main enemy push.

If you have the 88 (or are a tier 6 Tiger premium) you may want to gravitate toward medium country.  Your armor MIGHT be good enough and your gun will have issues with most heavies (basic 88 does not have a lot of pen, the long one does).
