Vote to save the SU-122-54, or vote that it should be removed. Take the poll above. I think it is wrong to just flat out remove it. It is a very unique vehicle that many of us have a lot of fun with. I feel that special vehicle status like we see happen with the tier ten vehicles should be implemented here. It only seems right. What do you think?

Edit: for those who don't know what I am talking about see this link:

https://worldoftanks...icles-overview/

TLDR (from link above at bottom of page):

"The last and probably trickiest task was tuning mid-tier vehicles for mid-to-close range assault gameplay. The SU-122-54 didn’t fit into the concept because of its traditional turret placement. We faced a huge dilemma here: it was clearly out of the line in terms of gameplay, but was valuable from a historical point of view. As an interim solution, we moved it down a tier to see if it can be viable there. Unfortunately, it was no good at blocking damage even at Tier VIII and still felt like a huge step away in terms of gameplay, plain and simple. That’s why, we removed the SU-122-54 and made a line fully composed of rear-turret/superstructure vehicles."

I don't think special status should be implemented here as that should be tier 10s only for reward tanks.

but removing a historical tank doesn't seem right either..

making it a tier 8 premium may work but would it? We already have two premiums that work like it.. the SU-122-44 and WZ-120-1G FT. This would however be the first tier 8 premium Russian TD.. but a good one? It has one of the worst win ratios as a tier 9 and they claimed changing it to tier 8 as a regular tank didn't do anything to benefit itself.

They said it can't be a tier 8 and they removing it. So they dont have to give us a free prem. Wait a few months and it will be for sale.

Make 263 a special vehicle, I read on the post that they didn't touch it and just made the new tier Xes alpha from 750 to 650, and I believe the 263 at tier 9 would be a little broken. I also believe the 122-54 is fine as it is, it could bounce a lot if the enemy hit the mantlet and the same could be said about the SU-101, granted the 101 had that hull that could bounce some lower tier tanks while the 122-54 could not. I loved my 122-54 despite the lack of armor

In terms of armor, moving it to tier 8 wouldn't do much. The armor on it is garbage(aside from the mantlet), but that DPM on a tier 8 tank would be INSANE and it could effectively win pretty much any 1v1 it got into with another tier 8 tank because of the massive amounts of DPM which is why I don't believe it should become a premium tank or tier 8 tank without some armor buffs and some DPM nerfs.

I don't see the need to make it a special vehicle as its not a tier 10 being replaced.

Most likely to see it come back as a tier 8 premium or WG will just give the SU-122-54 its own minibranch at a later date.

Well...its a flexible bush sniper so armor isn't its selling point and as for the DPM you do realize when/if they make it a tier 8 premium they will nerf the crap out of it to give them ample room for buffing if needed.

I would love it if it remained in the game. I see no reason why they have to remove it. Just because "it doesn't fit in the line", doesn't change that it's a unique Tank Destroyer. In my opinion, the more novel tanks the game has, the better.

Wasn't there a rumor that it wouldn't simply disappear?

I suspect it to become a premium tank. I mean common do you know WG to just take a tank and throw it away? I don't recall one tank in which was a tech-tree tank which was not only removed but never came back.

Am I wrong?

EDIT: I forgot about the WT E100.. that thing was broken.... I guess it is the exception.

Let those that ground it keep it.  I know it’s not tier X, but they’ve kind of been making precedent to leave it as a special.  I want to keep mine.

Voted premium, but it could also see release as a reward tank.

And hadn't thought about round 2 of PMs when I voted.  :P  So, there's that as well.

I think it should stay in the game..... It is a beautiful looking tank.... Also is historical.... Should let the people who own it keep it.... Like those people with the BETA tanks. A tank few people have and is never sold.

They should let us keep it. It's not like is OP and game breaking, so what is the harm in keeping it?

There wasn't really any rumor that I'm aware of as that was mostly speculation. I've seen quite a few people who think it will end up being downtiered to be sold as a premium which realistically makes the most sense.

Historical vehicle needs to be kept in the game and there you have the post removal marketing to bring it back an charge for it. Its gone folks until you see it with 50 XP bundle and 5000 gold brought back by listening to the playing population shill ad.

I think they should keep it at tier 9, but have it lead to a new tier 10.  As for what said tier 10 could be, I'm sure there are a few candidates, but the one I know best is the Obj 261-1 (not the arty), which looked the the current 261, but with the gun at the front and it had a closed superstructure.  Armor wise, its historical values would be fine (120-180 base with a slope), since it would be very similar to the 122 54 interns of how much you rely on it (not much), and it should have been pretty mobile.  Of course there is the fact that this tank was meant to use a 152 millimeter gun, but WG could easily switch that out for an accurate+rapid firing 122 or 130 millimeter.

Seeing as making it a reward tank costs WOT nothing and satisfies the community better than taking something out of the game entirely, it seems only logical to make it a reward vehicle.

It's not like this vehicle is "damaging" the game simply by existing, unlike (insert one of the 20+ OP beasts and/or arty here). ;)
