I've posed this question several times in various threads where posters have stated that a lack of high-tier play is indicative of a poorly skilled player. I never get an answer.

Can anyone show me ANY statistical proof that there are more skilled players at the higher tiers than are found at lower tiers on the NA server?

Can anyone show me ANY statistical proof indicating increased difficulty levels at higher tiers?

The presumption here being that there are more better-skilled players to be found at the top tiers and so game play is therefore harder at these tiers than at the lower tiers.

Bonus Question: Can anyone define "difficulty level" in the context of WoT? Ie; what specific mechanics establish these "difficulty levels"

Yes I'd say higher tiers are more skilled even if that is a negligible improvement on average. But I can easily say it's easy to seal club at low tiers than high tiers.

4,960,100 / 10 = 496,010

496,010 *1 = 496,010

Since 496,010 is equal to 496,010, then it must be true.

Just play 10 battles at tier 10 and 10 at tier 5 with xvm. You should be able to notice the difference.

You are looking at this wrong.

There are more newer, less skilled players - lower tier. Just due to starting something new. That is the nature of games like this. People start a game, and generally do so low tier.

As such, common sense and doctrine mean that higher tiers have more experienced players. Generally speaking, without noting bot and t   wa t outliers.

A while ago I kept track of overall player win rates in my battles.  This is what I got after tracking over 1000 battles:  It's the average number of players per color category per battle.

if you think that's not a big enough sample size, that's over 30000 random players sampled.  Here is how it stacks up against the server.  That blip at 53% is me, the blip at 0% are new players without enough battles to register on XVM.  The whitish overlay curve is the server win rate distribution.

Go play tier 4,5,6

You'll wanna blow your brains out :D

For the bonus question its quite common sense.

High tiers more you'll have to be knowledgeble on maps, tanks weak spots, active thinking of enemies position

Probably the biggest IMO is playing the tank correctly, higher the tier you get you'll have to become familiar with the positioning of the map according to the tank, know each and every single tanks strength and weakness

That is why I have had such a hard time going back and grinding tanks/lines that were released after I decided to take a year off from playing the game.  Now I have to endure the unwashed masses, and it has utterly soured my outlook on the game, and certainly how I behave in game play.

In short, yeah, I should have tried grinding those lines utterly drunk, and I probably would not have gotten chat bans :)

seems legit.  posts a topic containing "myth" in the topic title, and demands others provide statistical evidence...

I watch live streamers and some use XVM in game (Quickybaby) and there are more players at high tiers that are green and above. If he drops down to mid tiers, you can really notice a difference and many matches have both teams of mostly red/orange players. Then he goes back up to tier 10 and the teams have several green and higher players on both teams. I am not saying that playing higher tiers means no tomatoes but you will see a lot more green and higher level players up there compared to mid and low tiers. Again, I am just telling you what I see in live streams and it's not my opinion, only facts.

his can sometimes be misconstrued as skill.....which is why every Tier 10 presses 2.

A monkey can get a tier ten if given enough time. Doesn’t mean any skill was involved, only time. Time spent doesn’t even qualify skill gained. I’m horrible at this game.

its simple, the people at tier10 are more experienced than those at tier 4. Generally performance will improve with experience as people build better crews, can afford equipment, not grinding completely stock, shooting more gold, become more aware of armor layouts, and generally figured out what Does and Doesn't work.  These experienced group doesn't necessarily stick to the high tiers, some seal club, many mix it up.  But the new player can ONLY play at the lower tiers(unless they buy a premium in which case they could be playing the high tiers but that is less common)

So while the people at tier10 might not be more skilled at all they are at least more experienced which helps in plenty of factors that gives them an edge on somebody who has only grinded to tier4.

I think it was true once but less so now - the game has been out so long that all player skill level have had time to fail their way into tier 10
