Yesterday I was able to obtain the M103 and had a few questions before I started my experience with the new tank. Luckily, I knew that the stock grind would be horrid, so I used free experience to get the first 120mm and the second turret. So, my first question is since I have enough left over free experience to get either the engine or suspension, which one is the better choice? My second and last question is, after getting either the engine or suspension, what order should I go in to unlock the remaining modules?

I use this allot when grinding new tanks. If you scroll down to Early Research it will tell you the recommended order of research. M103 is a really fun Tier 9. Good luck with your grind.

Can you mount all the equipment such as rammer, vert stabs, and vents without suspension?
Can you mount the engine without suspension?

If no to either, then get suspension. Otherwise get engine.

Personally I would go with tracks before engine. Tracks would

1) Improve your traverse speed, making you more flexible on the battlefield - and letting you react faster to protect your weak sides.

2) Allow you to mount any equipment and modules without having to waste an equipment slot on temporary equipment

In addition, the engine upgrade only goes from 810 to 860 HP - a small enough difference that tracks may even give a better mobility upgrade just from improved ground resistance.

Radio last (of course).  The big gun is really expensive for a reason: it's worth it.  It makes the tank (what there is of it).  The biggest problem with the M103 is that the T29 and T32 (and T34) train you to get hull down and abuse the turret armor.  Apparently the designers of the M103 ran out of steel and used wet cardboard for the top of the turret.  T7 lights can pen anything above the mantlet.  122mm guns and up not only will pen the turret face, they overmatch the very hittable roof.  The roof is so accessible because of the angle that people will fire HE at you for full pens.  You can alleviate some of that by trying to fight from defilade (reverse slopes) and never sit still.  Wiggle wiggle wiggle.
