I think the valley can work more so in encounter. In standard pretty useless. Basically in encounter you can't quickly cap it. That being said most of the time they dont send a lot of reinforcements to deal with valley, so a full push on through can happen.

took a rather long break recently and one of my first games back a good player told us to push valley, thought it was the new thing on lakeville

He was using reverse psychology.   Tell them to go valley and they'll usually do the exact opposite, which was what he wanted.

All it has to do is Work once and people will think it works all the time.

Same reason they go beach on Overlord - it worked once.

I went to the beach on Overlord today just to see what it was all about and I had a great battle down there. Sometimes going to the "wrong" place can work. But, I was a bottom tier tank so no big deal. Our top tiers went to the heavy brawl areas and kept the enemy busy as I flanked up the ramp and shot distracted enemy tanks in the back. But yeah, when your top tiers all go there it usually means disaster for the team.

Oh bugger you mean to tell me its not a good idea to take my team into a tight bottle neck where the ground makes moving bloody slow and difficult

I mean its not like the enemy will track and kill anything coming over that way causing a blockage in the narrowest part of the valley stopping the rest of the lemmings getting through

TBH I don,t play the encounter or assault mode but it bloody annoys the crap out of me when some idiot types valley at the start of the game and the whole bloody team head that way especially heavy's

According to vbaddict I've played Lakeville 102 times since I enrolled on that site (4560 total battles recorded).  I think I can count on one hand the number of times pushing the valley has worked for my team.  Probably the same for the enemy so at most it works maybe 10% of the time...maybe.

Or all it has to do is fail once and people will think it fails all the time.  Vehicle make up of the teams can make a huge difference in the likelihood of success.
