The VK 28.01 ah the tank that has gone though so many changes over the years. It has seen power creep to a huge extent and been boosted and nerfed many times and ways.

Is there anyone out there that excels in this tank?

As an over 40 (Age) German tank clan we need this key tank for Strongholds.

Advice and or actual help (involvement in Skirmishes) would be great.

Keep the trolling and the smart ??? remarks to yourselves

the thing that hurt this tank the most was the removal of its derp gun.    it was ... ahem... a blast to play then.  Nowadays, all those scout-lights are so similar that they can just change the nationality flag, and name.  They dont have to change the stats of the tank, from one to the other.

I also wondered if Taz still plays Jaguar without derp gun.

The derp is what made that tank and there wasnt a need to remove it.  The hetzer and T40 both have 105mm derps at tier IV and GR1, PzIV, and M4 have it at teir V.

I played it post nerf and had a blast, it has really good dispersion values and can achieve 445 meters view range if you use food on it.

VK28 generally lost lots of benefits with the LT tech tree shifts. But it is not all bad, as many other tech tree LT tanks got shafted. T37 lost everything, 59-16 lost autogun, VK lost however, all lost view range

As it stands, VK still has the most armour and weight, out of tech tree LT. It also, although less than TY64, has 38Om view range, 1O-2Om more than other LT tanks. The increased HP/T certainly made it faster than before too. The new moderate pen 7.5cm gun allows it some ranged reliability and accuracy, instead of a slow howitzer. So although it can be used as a Skirmish scout, VK still is significantly handicapped when matched up againt TY64, a very superior scout.

If you use only Jerry tanks in Stronks, be careful as cromwells and TY64 and T3485M, and secondary tanks like Strv/57 and T25 med are much better to what Germans have to offer. To counter TY64, you need more VKS but then more cromwells / T34s counter your meds. It typically does not end well. Try to put emphasis or use things like VK3OP, they definitely are very useful. You can use 8.8 or the 1O.5 HE dupe. VK.O2M and .O1D, are generally poor choices, although VK36 / Tiger 131 are decent Hvy. JagPzlV can certainly do alot of dmg, and is capable than dickermax, but TDS with fixed guns suffer

I would suggest a line up like 2 VK36/Tigers.    3 VK3OP.   2 VK28

0r you can run, 4 VK3OP, 2 VK28, 1 jagpz.

0r finally, 5 VK3OP, 3 VK 28.    Are you allowed using Tiger MK N6, Pudel? They technically are German tanks

Thank you for the overall picture of the German situation at tier six. We are very aware the situation as we have been using German tanks in these kinds of battles for many years. I agree with some of it. Some of it we have learned well and some other things I have no advantage in going over here. Dealing with the Cromwells and 64s is very easy for us as can beat them hands down once we can see them. The issue is we have to see them first. Hence the need for some good experienced VK 2801 drivers.

Our average age is 48 and one is 80, having a couple of younger folks that are talented in this tank are needed.

From looking at your roster (here and at clan tools), I believe you have capable players that just need to settle into a more disciplined mindset for scouting (as opposed to running wolfpack). That is, if your intentions are for gaining vision that allows your main to do the damage.

For some reason they removed the derp gun on this tank and left it on the higher tier american. They are just being inconsistent for some unknown reason  and have not felt it is necessary to explain their decision.

In the meantime russian tanks are getting better.

Not to mention leaving the 105 in the tier 4-6 tanks in other parts of the German line...

I'll drive it again when they bring back the 105 (what I 3 marked the tank with).  Until then...nope.

It doesn't seem like the sort of tank a talented light driver would keep in his garage and devote his time to anymore.

I still have my VK2801 in my garage. But I haven't really bothered much with it since it lost the 105 gun. It used to be my favorite light tank back in the day. Since the changes, I moved on to the SP1C and lately I've been playing with the free HWK I got in my garage when WG reworked the tech tree. I don't see much reason to play the VK much anymore over my HWK (aside from funny ramming plays against other lights), and I don't see why anyone else would play it either.

I've been taking a break from the game recently, and my stats were never impressive anyway. But I just doubt you're going to find the sort of person you are looking for to weigh in on this.

There's no reason to play a VK 2801 when you can get better firepower and better viewrange out of a Type 64.

It's usually polite to compare tech tree tanks to tech tree tanks, but there's nothing you stated that is incorrect  :teethhappy:

There is a reason to not play the Type 64 if you were to bother actually reading the OP's post.

The Vk2801 is my first tank I play everyday. I tend to play it as a passive scout. If you try to active scout with it, you will get shot up once spotted. It is not the most nimble, although it top speed is good. I swapped out of the 10.5 gun before they took it from us and found the 7.5 better for on the move firing. you can also bounce a shot or 2 , but don't count on too many bounces. You can be a bully vs most other scouts with ramming, especially with controlled impact.

If you guys are still doing t6 skirmishes and want someone in the 2801, give me a holler.
