Tier 8 Strongholds are not "serious business", they're for making beaucoup credits... and what better way to make tons of credits than to play mostly premium tanks ?

Personally, in Strongs I only play the 252U, T-432, 41 90GF, 40t, RedValise (cuz I won it) and occasionally something non-prem only because I'm GRINDING it.

So what you're saying is no, there is no point in bringing non-premiums. Hypothetically though, if it was serious business, what would you take?

You want to disregard what that person said.

The individual, is from Tier6. A decidedly average, casual clan with callers that take tier 6 strongholds more seriously than 8s Xs. Which is actually the reverse of what a clan should strive for.

Tier 6 SH are vision dominated environments with super fast tanks that use auto aim, any armoured enemies encountered can still be dealt with using gold rounds....still in auto aim. And things like .oi. that do bounce ridiculous amounts, outside of two maps named ensk and himmels, are extremely impractical. Battles of 2-3min are typically wanted, for x2s, EXP, cash. This is what people refer to as fastbois, not competition.

Most clans that do well, and wish to perform, and want a 1.5K ESH  tier 8, so you are talking about places like Relic, G, Mahou, Vilin, otter, or L4ST  -- these typical high performance clans call their battles tier 8s, because it means something and the rewards are far greater. Tier 8, they do not typically worry about composition, so you get players running junk, for daily doubles or tech grinding,  but commanders of the detach will usually point out if the team is -too-  light  (running too much LT tanks)   or negatively immobile (TDs, heavy tanks like Mausbreaker, Lowe, .oho.)  So you do get 3-4 guys usually in complete junkers goofing off, but there are those 6-7 in useful things like LT432/252Y, and the battle is deployed by calls.

Heavy tanks are definitely the core, unlike tier 6, much more like tier X. The old, traditional, venerable lS3 is still a very good choice, everyone should have it. 252Y, lS3A, lS5, lSM, 5OTP, 53TP, WZ111, 11O are eastern style assault tanks that commanders will have no issue with, having good angled armour profiles, smaller size, excellent turrets, and average workable mobility. Allied tanks like Caern A X, Caern, AMXHundo, Somua, Liberte, Patriot, Chrysler are good niche fighters, annoyers, support tank heavy tanks  -  as they can typically be faster, offer high DPMs, or are excellent -GD terrain tanks, and offer greater view range. But they usually lose out in assault role and frontal confrontation with Eastern heavy tanks.

Medium tanks include lorraine, progetto, T44s, T54Mod1, Cent5/1.  Meds are a class that until lately have been largely overlooked, as tier 8 meds are not powerful like tier X ones. However with late editions and buffs, they are more common now.  LT432, FCM5, SkorpG, SU-PM, charioteer, obj416  are lighter and TD like vehicles that can run with med tanks or substitute as them as well, but they take a higher player proficiency.

LTs include LT432 and M41GF. LT432 is quite superior to M41GF, but both work fine. ELC and T92 make fantastic bush spotters, but have alot less utility outside that role like the first couple. WZ132 is the best tech scout, that is a reasonable choice.

TDs include SkorpG, SU-PM, charioteer, S1,  WZ12OFG primarily. They do their roles best, such as offering turrets, having some mobility, and if not the others listed are excellent fire support because of camo values. Tech tree alternatives include UDES, a faster S1 job although it does not have the armour, Rhm Bor - extreme firepower and turret/camo  but it is slow,  and T28 proto - with its new buffs it can be like a heavy tank.Commanders do not want too much TDs on their teams though.

Arty, none. lf a C0 is foolish enough to choose one, M4O/M43.

A standard competitive lineup, can include 1 turret TD (SU-PM/SkorpG) 1 LT (432/M41GF) 3 meds , the rest heavy tanks with assaults outnumbering supports.

I find the standard caernervon, souma and chrysler lacking in strongholds. none of them have well rounded armor that is vital in low count games like strongholds.

Chrysler has well rounded armour. ln fact, it is quite well rounded entirely, sporting great mobility for a heavy tank, decent view range for a heavy,  The accuracy, soft stats, aim-time are also solid.  Problems as to why it has fizzed out as a good choice for strongholds? There are a few, but not really its armour. lt is the very clunky in nature, and large, which causes alot of team bumping when trying to play it as it should be defensively. Attacking with it is poor, because it rounds corners horrendously, poor gun depression. And the DPM is bad, and forces users to use the APCR. Frontal engine troubles too
