The longer they survive the map the deadlier they are and in the hands of an good player they will terrorize the red tanks.

A keeper tank for fun for sure, if you are having a bad day grab it and go melt down some tanks and you will feel gooder.

It's not the tank it's the player.

You need to be nerfed...

these things run around wrecking stuff, are they as good as they seem sometimes? obviously the human plays a big roll..... but wthis with the machine gun thing that makes mince meat out of heavies? everyone running gold ammo in them?

I don't carry a single gold round in mine. You really don't need it. With your speed and the 95mm standard pen you can get in close, flank like tiered heavies and spank their sides and weak points.

^^^ This...

I totally agree, gold ammo is not needed. Although I do carry an ample supply just in case it comes down to my vs a T-150 or something like that. But generally speaking, your throwing away credits if you are shooting gold out of the Luch.

This is the correct way to play the tank. If you need the extra penetration, then you've made a mistake. I don't play the Luchs, but the Leopard is my most played tank. I have one of the highest average damage values on the server without ever carrying gold.

The Luchs is amazing fun, and can be very OP if played well. However, it does have its limitations. The gun is terribly inaccurate so you have to be up REALLY close or you'll miss half your shots. The turret traverse is slower than the track traverse, so boom and zoom tactics can be tricky. Because of those limitations, you frequently lose half of that 300 damage, or you have to stop/slow down so your turret can keep up (and still lose at least a couple of the shots even at close range). Then you spend a quarter of the next minute reloading.

There are plenty of fast autoloaders that can shred soft targets much better than the Luchs. The Luchs trades reload speed for the ability to shred hard targets.

Just play the game like a round of Mario Kart with a machine gun.

I've seen my fair share of Matlidas in my Luchs, where exactly am I suppose to aim the autocannon without using gold rounds?  Especially if the Matilda can't see me?

you spray him from long range, even if 2-3 shots in a clip pen, youll whittle him down eventually. its not like a matilda is going to chase you down.

Shots to the track wont pen, shots to the front of the turret wont pen, and the hull is extremely tiny.  Even with gold ammo, it would be tricky to get 2-3 pens at range.

The tank didn't over-perform significantly thorough server history but there has definitely been a spike in popularity and performance since 9.18 - as to the OP, I would say yes, it is definitely a well-above-average performer at the very least and it seems to be quite over tuned in its current state. Matilda added for reference. I should also note - the Chinese M5A1 Stuart is also over-performing if you want to look that thing up in wot-news.

Gold doesn't make much of a difference in this scenario but it's your time/money. Other than that just follow proper form - eliminate softer targets first if at all possible, then safely isolate the slower, heavily armored tank, close in, circle it to death, get to its sides and/or rear, etc.

The Matlida is often the last tank left alive since tier 4 is tier 4 and many of those kind of players don't know about it's armor and it's too slow to get itself into trouble.  As for closing in, the damn thing has a rapid fire pop gun, it seems like I need to make sure I can get 2 full magazines unloaded on it to reliably kill it, which means camping bush for the first shots.

yeah grade S+ seal clubber tank. even a t28 is a joke compared to this tank. Obviously, wot devs believe in historical accuracy so fully that...they've rewritten the text books. tank is stronk...add in crew perks, some additional gear, and gold ammo....and you have a tank from the year 1980.

When I had a Pz I, I couldn't wait to get a Pz I C. When I had a Pz I C, I couldn't wait to get a Luchs. When I had a Luchs, I couldn't wait to get a Leopard. See a pattern here?
