No matter what the original post is about, it many times leads to arguments over good player vs bad player. A lot of it stems from players who use XVM and use their ability to see all player stats during a match. I thought we might be interested to see where we all stand on the issue.

You should try searching the forums, must be a couple thousand threads on this exact topic, asking the same question, with the same poll.

But... Since we're here, yet again... XVM is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. Run it if you want, or don't. I personally am not against any extra information I can get my hands on. The better prepared you are, the better the decisions you can make.

I don't condone using it to shame players, but such is the nature of the beast. The black list exists for a reason, don't like someone talking down to you for a lower WN8, black list em. Can also try asking them for advice, sure they might be a turd in the heat of the moment, but if you show them you're trying to improve, they may respond better.

What folks overlook is that XVM shows overall not recent.  So that yellow/orange may be a blue/purple recent.

But I get the shame over stats and then there is also XVM focus.   So it just isn't "bad" players that suffer from XVM.

However, I don't see anything changing.

Once long ago WG mentioned doing away with it (can't remember the details re: the how) and abandoned that plan.  Likely due to feedback.  Plus it's one of the mods they, for lack of a better term, cooperate with as well. Does anyone remember this, it was a quite awhile back.

So with that in mind I don't see it being banned/disabled.  At least in the relative near future.

The only change I'd like to see is an anonymous enemy team.  You only know what they are, not who.

Boom!  No arty focus, no win chance shenanigans, no WAH THEY HAS BUTTER TEAM WAHHHHH, nothing but an enemy you need to kill.

You'd only see the names of your team and clan tags on your team.  You should only be able to see platoons on the enemy team, nothing more, not named or anything, just that little number indicating which toon they are in.

Banning all the mods is really retarded, I don't want my guns sound like pea shooters.

I figured so. I tried but I guess I didn't hit the right key words.

Almost like fog of war to randoms.  You can't cross team chat, anyway, so why not completely eliminate player names, until after the battle report?!  Solves the issue of stream-sniping as well.

def think that hiding player names on the other team would do wonders for this particular issue without any impact on game play whatsoever.

especially since there is no cross chat anyway...there is really nothing "lost" by not having the playernames for the opposing team listed until the battle is over.

Just lockout the stat display, the other visual mods can (and have) enhance game performance and generated improvements.

I try to assess skill and risk based on where tanks go, how they position, and how they fight.  I found when I had stats enabled they oft times led to poorer decision making not better decision making.  Less skilled players have good games and more skilled players have bad games.  Is use metrics to monitor my performance and assess improvement, when I went vanilla I saw a 500 point increase in wn8 recent and eventually overall.  Maybe it was just good timing and busting a personal skill development plateau, but frankly I place a lot of validity on making better decisions via direct observation and getting rid of stat display.

This xvm is two headed. I like it for the extra zoom, I use safe shot, I like the mini map mods, and one of the damage logs. I quickly look at Aslains loading players list. When the game starts I have nothing other than the min map and the icons at the top showing team composition. The labels above tanks, I just have they type and HP. Way easier, I just go for the best target and not wait for a shot at those two blue guys.

I think all the stats should be private and only disclosed/unlocked at players request.

XVM is a tool.

Many of the people who use XVM are tools.

That make it clearer?

That makes me as a vanilla player, the BEST!!!!!
