Odd choice for a name.

The Alps are in Europe, and there aren’t any Tigers living there. The only Chinese tanks that fought in the mountains were the ones that invaded Tibet in 1950.  So can we assume that this was originally the alliterative Tibetan Tiger - but that was never gonna fly with China.

Tianamen Tiger was also right out.

Are you referring to the new tank, Alipine Tiger? Why you say Tibetan Tiger?

  Another small irony is during the korean war during operations ripper and killer the US painted their tanks with tigers as a form of psychological warfare based on the Chinese's fear of tigers... At least that's what I read about it...
