Don't let the mean old whiners brag about their win 8 and knock yours.  Win 8 is a lie. Win 8 has always been a lie. It will always be a lie.
Just learn, play and have fun.
If someone brags about their win 8, ask how often anyone drops their undies because of it.....

KV-5
Blocked - 3600
Assisted - 3582
Kills - 2
Damage - 755

Win 8?   817

So go forth, play and annoy. Tell 'em Tax said kisses.....

With 20 shots fired and only 5 pens, you either need to aim better or use premium ammo when it's warranted. You basically acted as a scout tank; with 3600 assistance damage, you did help your team, but you could've done more.

As for WN8, everyone knows it isn't the be-all end-all of metrics, because it doesn't count assistance damage in its calculations. That doesn't mean it's a completely useless metric.

WN8 is just a way to put in numbers how much somebody affects the outcome of a game. People with higher WN8 will win more games than people with lower.

It's not perfect. And no one should get caught up on comparing themselves to "someone better".

Nice game!

WN8 is not a lie.

It is an incomplete measure of what good players do, and really, of what any players do, because WarGaming does not release all relevant battle data for use by third-party sites.

The lie, or mistake, is judging a player or a result ONLY by WN8.

There are things that WN8 measures that good players do, so, WN8 does measure mastery of certain aspects of the game.  Accordingly good players and good performances will generally have/ result in a good WN8 rating.

This thread is probably going to end up locked within a day. I'm not calling it, but probably 2.

NIce match.

For someone with a wn8 of 817.

But can you do it game after game after game. Because the guys with the high wn8 scores do just that. it is the norm for them.

I don't understand how WN8 works, why it was designed that way, and how I can use it to improve my game play.

Fixed.

Win 8 is not true.

You win 3 and then you lose 27 in a row.

Wn8 is only one metric to measure player skill and it would be stupid to only use that one rating to measure player skill. You look at several metrics such as wn8, win rate, average xp, average spots, kill-death ratios, damage ratios, hit ratios, armor usage ratios and marks of excellence. You can look at these metrics on a tank by tank basis and it is very accurate to indicate player skill if they have a good sample size of battles in the tank you are looking at. But, if you play a variety of tanks and are good at the game you will have a higher wn8 than a lower in skill person. Average xp is a fast way to check a players skill in a tank. From tier 6 and up, good players can average 750-1000 xp in most of the tanks they play. Use that to compare how your average xp measures up to that amount and then you will know how skilled you really are.

Wn8 is just a score for people to feel smug about it it doesn't tell me anything about how well players play

WN8 is not a lie, it is a metric that measures certain things.  It is not the be all end all of player skill but I would submit to you that you will not find any good players with a low WN8 and no bad players with a high WN8.

65% Player: "Win8 and Winrate are very important"

52% Player & Below: "Win8 and Winrate aren't important"

My questions are: Is matchmaking & rng the exact same for everyone?  If it's all bad, then it must all be exactly the same, right?  "Random" must mean it's exactly the same randomness for all I guess...  Otherwise, it's tin foil hat time.

In truth, I don't know and I don't really care what my winrate and/or win8 tells you about me.  I just know that I'm at Level 11 and moving higher in Ranked Battles and even though all my games now have Purple, Blue & Dark Green players in them, I continue to finish in the top 3 for damage & xp consistently.  That tells me all I need to know.

I hope whatever stat you find important is in your favor.

Happy Tanking!

I spent most of my shots tracking tanks I can't pen at a distance with what is basically the T-150 gun. KV5 tracks like a beast. Let the kids with the big guns clean the other big kids out :)

I spent a month burning matches for bonds to get the 907. My PR is always around 6000 for years....  after 43k games, it is pretty static.
