Hey Tankers,

Recent the first wave of Italian tanks hit the Super Test server.

Tiers I–VII of Italian branch are made up by:

  • post-WWI tanks (during that period, the army was still defining its priorities regarding armored vehicles);
  • pre-WWII tanks;
  • tanks that were designed during World War II according to updated requirements.

This is a mixed branch: there are light tanks on Tiers I–III, and mediums on Tiers IV and above.
The first four Tiers are the dawn of Italy’s tank industry. Tier I is occupied by Fiat 3000 based on the French Renault FT light tank. Tier II houses the M14/41 and the L6/40. Both vehicles were mass produced and used by Italian armed forces so we couldn’t neglect any of them. The M15/42 sitting on Tier III was assembled in large amounts, too. The P26/40 medium tank (Tier IV) was the heaviest hitting tank in the Italian army during WWII, carrying thicker armor and a 75 mm cannon. The P26/40 gameplay may be called ‘transitional’ between that of the starting and mid-tier vehicles.

Tier V–VII tanks are based on WWII concepts that followed the common design tendencies of the era, emphasizing protection and firepower. The P.43 rolls from mid-1940’s straight into Tier V. The P.43 bis (Tier VI) takes a big step forward with 90 mm cannon and solid frontal armor (and also with its looks, a tad futuristic for its age). It’s somewhat slow, but its successor, the P.43 ter (Tier VII) improves on that, also offering an enlarged turret, a longer barrel, and a better suspension.

We’ll drop info on top-tier ‘Italians’ later. These vehicles deserve an in-depth look: beginning with Tier VIII, tanks in the branch receive its signature ‘autoreloader’ system.

This is going to be the first appearance of ‘Italians’ so their parameters are subject to change based on testing results.  In addition, some of the models are not finalized and will be fully realized before release.

That tier 5 looks good. Better armor profile at least frontally than most of the tier 5 heavies, yet has decent mobility as well. Not bad, not bad at all.

Hopefully the 13/40 will be an alternate tier 2. Or perhaps our Christmas gift this year.

Tier 2 and 4 look quite strong. Tier 6 looks like a Skoda T40 clone, performance-wise. Overall Russian dispersion but maybe with better gun depression?

The P26 is currently shaping up to be one of the only non-trash tier 4's in the entire game.

Day late and a dollar short again.EU youtubers had this out yesterday.

What value does this comment have?  For those of us who aren't hovering over the EU youtubers or dedicated streamers, etc., this is welcome news presented here!  Who breaks the news first is something I don't care about.  Getting the news is what is important.

Thanks for the update, Cabbage!  That HE pen for the tier 7 as previous commenters stated is a head scratcher all right.  Aside from that, I'm eager to see these tanks coming into battle.  And maybe a return of the chess match that was the Province map?  I can hope at least...

I'd rather see the Fiat 2000 as the Christmas gift.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_2000

Still waiting to see the soft stats, whether or not these tanks have good depression angles, terrain resistance, camo, and movement dispersion is going to make a massive difference here.

You guys really need some native-english speaking people to be proof-reading the content that goes up on the NA site before you post it. The news article that's on the main page has grammatical and translation issues all over it, and while it's still understandable, it looks sloppy.

Semovente L40 da 47/32

Semovente da 90/53

Semovente da 105/25

The primitive shapes are too much for their modeling department to handle.   That thing would be fun.

Italy had enough TD types to reach tier 6, or possibly tier 7. Wargamming has to research/imagine what the the high tier vehicles could be before they introduce an Italian TD line.
