Hey Tankers,

Today we’re launching a new map prototype on the Supertest.  No name yet, but the setting is Eastern themed.  It’s going to be a big map (1,000m×1,000m), and half-open: lots of open space but plenty of cover options as well.  The bases are located in the West and in the East, opposite each other.  The map contains three distinct sections:

The town - Most clashes will take place here and will include lots of maneuvering. Cover is abundant, offering nice firing positions and shielding you from enemy TD’s. The town isn’t isolated from the rest of the map: depending on how the battle develops, you can provide/receive flank assistance.

The hills in the North. This is a sniping location, with multiple tactical options: blocking the enemy advance and giving fire support to allies in the middle, rushing the flank with medium tanks, spotting by light tanks, and more.

The pass by the lake. A path for risk-takers, suitable for both taking great firing positions fast, and spotting.

This is an early prototype so naturally it is subject to change, and is several graphical polishing passes away from its final fully beautified self.

Let us know what you think!

That's pretty cool looking from a structural perspective.  Thanks for sharing!

How much of the map is unusable, like rocks or mountains?   Do you have a screenshot of a minimap perspective?

The 'sea-caves' don't look quite realistic, and I'm concerned that you'd get a lot of camera errors when trying to use 3rd-person view inside of them. It also seems like another 3-corridor map...I'd rather have a more open 0-corridor map with soft cover so you can actually use a light tank.

While agree, it is too a point. I absolutely hate Fiery Salient. I am sick and tired of maps that have one dominate hill for everyone to rush to, that needs to stop because it ruins encounter completely.

I agree with you fiery salient is awful on encounter but then again I don't play assault or encounter because I don't enjoy them. But yes we need more open maps in general.

The first map with a cavern?  I'm all for it, plenty of arty cover.  I also like the design of the higher ground area, looks like it will be fun to play with lights and mediums.

Look how high the cavern is... They'll use the new(ish) arty aim mode and peg you anyway.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the concept of "Key Terrain", what with you being Navy and all ...

Battles tend to be fought at/around prominent terrain features.

Secondary terrain features, aka secondary objectives, sometimes must be seized to secure positions to launch or support against the primary.

I will say that we (HHT) don't care for the sea-cave thing - AndrewSledge said it best in post #5.

Ew, no thanks. I'd much rather they bring in back the old maps.

Perhaps Wargaming should have a comp for the fanbase to produce a map and voted in by the public.

I assume that arty will be able to shoot the rock cover and bring it down on our heads.

One of my own first thoughts about it, too - as though the stonehenge-thingy wasn't enough, someone said "Hey, let's put a roof on it!"

Talk about your totally rarted arty shield for the whiners in Super Heavies, plus maximum corridors!  Should be a massive success.

Please test it out in Russia - where people are taught to NOT think for themselves and tell us just how much they agree with your instruction to tell us how much they love it. 99%?  A full 100%?

Super
