Howdy Tankers,

I have seen Togs in game before and have watched some videos of people platooning with 3 of them.  However, it always seems to be like a joke to have 3 Togs together, etc. with people laughing and not giving the win/loss any consideration.  From my limited perspective, the Tog II* is a collector's tank and has significant historical value but gameplay is just a really good gun on a massive, slow moving footlong hotdog.

With this week's Tiger 131 & Tog II* sale starting, I have to wonder:

1) Who truthfully intends on buying a Tog II* and, if so, why?

2) Is a Tog II* even remotely competitive?

     - If it is competitive, then how should it be used?

3) Anything else that would educate me on the Tog II*?

I hope my inquiries don't offend any of you Tog II* fans out there.  If I do, please feel free to curse me out in a PM and I'll take it like a man.  If you have something constructive to say or would like to provide me with your thoughts (neg or pos), I'd really appreciate those in this thread.

I hope all of you are enjoying some Happy Tanking!

Thank you.

Apart from the fact that it has HP comparable to most tier 7s and some tier 8s it is able to equip a Superheavy spall liner, is amazing at sidescraping, and has quite good dpm and pen competitively wise it is too slow and large to be used in TB.Personally I keep mine because of its unique nature and the Lol factor of it

Used to be fun, now it's just pathetic.  They could buff it up like a Jap super heavy or, and this would be hilarious, give it a top speed of 70KPH. Totally ridiculous but fun to imagine.

It serves the same purpose as a weak gray whale does to a pack of orcas.

It can be fun in small doses. Back several years ago, I believe you could use a TOG or two to block bridges on Erlenberg or block the passes on Mountain Pass, so it could be useful on some competitive battles. Those days are gone.

I've had mine for a looooong time. Used to be pretty competitive but being as slow as it is I don't find I bring it out as often anymore :(.

Buying it if you don't "need" anything else or because you don't care if you have a tank not used often, no big do it.

If you are hoping for a tank you can have fun in lower tiers with, not much so due to making you play harder because of the Meta.

The TOG ][* has no armor or speed but, for its tier, has a huge amount of health and an accurate, fast gun. So many players underestimate the TOG that they frequently die laughing while being pew-pew-pewed to death. That said, KV-2s and O-Is are its nemesis -- at close range and where they can hide while reloading. A KV-2 or O-I vs. TOG encounter at long range with no cover, however, is a fairly even match.

Sure it does .... Bullet Sponge ...

A smart TOG player knows this ...

Learn how to use that smart TOG when it's on your team ...

Even a stupid TOG has some use ...

TOG's are only viable in a 3 TOG platoon where their combined 4k HP and 10k DPM slowly rolls over everything in front of them

Personally, I have seen this 3 or 4 times and it has never worked (for the win). But the 3 doing it have a blast.

Thanks everyone!

PS - I was never planning on buying one of these.  I might play it if they let me try it for free or gave me one.  But 2-3 games max would be my guess.

In the march overview it was worded as "Tiger 131 + Tog II*"

Do you think it will have to be a package buy?

I planned to grab the Tiger... because I can, but the Tog I already have. I guess it would be added as ingame gold so it doesn't matter.

Tog used to be fun, but I haven't played it in years. I remember the gun and gun depression being pretty good. The speed is what kills it.

it's fun to take out once in a while. The dpm catches a lot of players off guard. My happiest TOG game was getting a Kamikaze medal after ramming an E25 that was shooting me while reversing.

lt is bad at the side scrape. Too large. Side armour is flat. Turret is weirdly placed and thin, with angled cheeks that become flat when poking.

ToG has dangerous firepower. lt has the same DPM and gun as Black Prince at tier after. So yes, while a large long pinata of HP and EXP to drain, it can sting back very easily with its armament.

Absolutely this ^  TOG platoons are very fun and mostly unstoppable. 3 of those guns targeting the same tank means for a quick death to the opponent.

First off, I will admit up front that I'm one of those "casual" gamers who just plays for fun.  I generally try to accomplish the mission objectives rather than chasing kills.  So yeah, my stats aren't particularly good overall.

But with that said, the TOG is my "go to" tank.  When played right it tends to catch other players by surprise.  It is best used as a sniper and defense tank.  It has a fast-firing and long reach gun - doesn't do a lot of alpha but can plink somebody apart quite quickly.  Have had numerous missions with multiple kills - once I learned how to use it.

It is an arty magnet, so you've got to try to hide from that.  But it will bounce a lot of other shots at it, and when it does get hit it just keeps on soaking up damage while dealing it back out.

It is pretty much like any other tank in the game - if you know how to use it, it can do a lot.  But if you only drive it now and then you're going to be clobbered.

And it is just such a "fun" tank to show up on the field with...

Yep, makes a good linebacker for your teammates too.

Slow but fun.
