JUST re-did the poll and title to better reflect after some feedback.

Reset votes.

Lots of passion on this topic.

I don't use it, but I feel its effects when some twit says "Well we lose" at the start of the match.

Pros:

- Can show you who to follow and who not to follow in a match by indicating the players WN8.

- Helps support vehicles where to set up and focus fire to support team.

- That's all I can think of. Add more and I will edit this portion.

Cons:

- Causes "XVM sniping"

- Causes player dissatisfaction when they are on the team with more "tomatoes" and less "Smurfs" on their team.

- Encourages stat-shaming, team  griefing.

- Encourages re-rolling for stat pride.

- Add more and I will edit this portion.

So...

Should we start an online petition to get WG to ban XVM?

Need an option for those who are indifferent on the matter.  I don't like it, but who am I to say if people should use it or not.

I am not a fan of in-game XVM displaying stats, but that's my opinion.  I'd like more to play vanilla, but it's also a PC game, mods are expected to be a thing.

I mostly agree with you Mac, but not today, just because a few misuse the system doesnt mean the majority does, I like XVM gives me real time stats in and out of game, sorry dont agree with the ban

I use it to forecast how much I have to tryhard to win a game.

I enjoy having people who are new or not very great at the game - it just means I can get away with more things, and kill more tanks.

If you are truly a good player, xvm targeting will not affect you significantly. All the good players I know or I've fought were really good at avoiding shots and focusing.

If you don't like using xvm, just uninstall it. It's an optional feature.

XVM is more than just stats.  It is also mods (some useful, some not), plus in game statistics.

WG should remove the statistics portion of their API, but allow the mods.  Case closed.

I am a huge proponent of the fog of war, wherein you just know what kind of tank you are fighting, not who is driving it (until after the game is over, of course).

Yeah, I don't use it so I don't get to see anything but the ugly it produces.

Does the part you like work in garage or in battle?

Would you be amicable to limiting it to in garage only?

Good post, thanks.

I redid the poll and title based on your info.

I'd be perfectly fine with that as well.  Just get it out of the gameplay.

Hell, all my mods are garage/UI mods anyway, minus the reticle mod that allows me to run the server side and standard reticle at the same time.

Personally i would love to see it banned from in-game.  It's just as easy for people to keep track of session stats on a separate monitor or tab out of game and check.

It's not going to happen though.

@quicksilver - I would love FoW as well, but WG have stated that they will not implement that due to some technical issue.  I can't remember exactly what it said that i read, but basically I understood it to mean they don't have the ability to implement that.

Cons:

In-game chat stat-griefing

Higher-stat players telling lower-stat players to "go scout" for the higher-stat player under the premise that such scouting is being done "for the team"

Pushing lower-stat players out of "my position"

False bot reporting

It could actually kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

It would make the players in battle anonymous - allowing purples to stop getting so focused right off the bat, and would reduce a lot of in game/same team BS chatter and bullying regarding stats.

That's called physics abuse.  You can get banned for that, believe it or not.

i wish WG would have a vanilla option where we can see the PR rating of our teamates,

XVM is very very handy to see who on my team are windowlickers and can not be counted upon to do anythign right.

this is especially important when driving a support vehicle. arty or a TD etc, cause if you are planning on supporting a flank, and then just watch the failtards in front of you die in an instant, i would have definitly set up somewhere else. making me a factor in the game

Yeah, but PR can be artificially inflated by number of games played (at lea.st to a point).  That makes it a bad metric right off the bat for single usage.
