If they are in Aslians mod pack, which I think they are. then it is very likely ok.

And I saw Circon say on a stream the other day when someone asked about that zoom mod, he said that "they better be" because he got it from that new site WoT has for accepted mods...

I don't think view windows should be expanded beyond what's in vanilla, but I don't think zoom out is illegal.  The SprightlySprog uses some form of zoom out, I think?

It's stupid*, but they are.

* (Old) AutoAim+ was banned because it let you lock on someone behind cover which you normally can't. ZoomOut lets you do the same plus see where someone is aiming which you can't see without it.

Yeah, their rules, or lack there of, are weird and ever changing it seems...

I wont use vanilla unless I am forced to though as I HATE the standard tank icons on the team lists on the left and right of the screen...those icons suck for telling you whats what at a glance. I am sure you get used to it after a while, but I do not want to get used to it...

2 things.

  1. historically mod legality has varied from server to server.  what circon uses on eu may or may not be legal here on NA
  2. there is a pen indicator in the vanilla client that is much more primitive, as such I'm not sure how, or why an enhanced indicator would be illegal - one is still subject to RNG on penetration rolls.  that being said, I don't use either.

According to Wargaming anything on their official mod website is legal.

Aslains mod may be legal, but are the other gazillion mods it installs for you legal?

Personally, I am staying away from this because I feel like a lot of those mods give an unfair advantage, regardless of whether they are legal or not.

Aslain's is a mod "pack", he may have one or two or ten mods of his in there, but some high percentage is mods by others. He just packages them all in a nice pack with an EXE installer that lets you see a graphic version of each as you pick them in the installer. So I like it for the ease of picking what I want in one place...He updates like a machine after patches, and he tries hard to take out mods that could get you banned...

Personally, I like mods that make my play time more enjoyable and easier to understand...

I use Aslains mod to make my game easier to use: Crew Switching, Gold Locking, Clock, Garage - better Tech Trees & 3 Row Carousel, etc.

I recently added some of the reticles in the mod pack that make my aim slightly easier to see.  I don't think that anything that I've used from Aslains gives me an unfair advantage in any way.  But that's just my opinion.

I thought zoom put was illegal cause it made it easier to look around conrners. I'm probably wrong though

Aslain does his best to make sure his mods are legal, and he knows more about the rules than I do. If it’s in his pack (both of which are, and I use them), then it’s legal. Also, if he’s streaming to 2,000 people with them and hasn’t been banned, they’re legal.

The game has a pen indicator available and what you are describing is just a fancier pen indicator, so...

there is a conflict here with wargaming saying aslains is legal mods but then saying another thing in the fair play policy.  On the policy it clearly states that any mod that leaves a ghost image of where a tank was last spotted is illegal but aslains modpack has that available.  Is the one aslains has for leaving ghost image of last spotted location legal then or not?

I use the in-game reticle which is a tiny circle inside a small circle and a dot.  The dot will either be Red, Yellow or Green - which I've always taken as a penetration indicator.  I don't rely on it b/c it is wrong 50% of the time, but I do try to aim for greener pastures.

Ex. The Tier 5 German Medium with the derp gun (4H?): I always use HE with that tank and the dot is ALWAYS red - yet I do damage every time.  Maybe it's splash dmg, but it gets the job done either way.

I just updated my Aslains mods... I carefully examined all options, line by line... there is no mod in Aslains pack that "leaves a ghost image where a tank was last spotted".

There is, however, a setting in the game called "Enable Expanded Minimap Features" which includes placing a "last known position" icon of enemy tanks that have been spotted and are no longer spotted but are still alive. That is PART OF THE "vanilla" GAME.

Of course it is not perfect, it can't account for the vagaries of dispersion and pen RNG... so red means "not LIKELY to pen", yellow says "some decent chance to pen", and green indicates "good chance to pen". There are very few guarantees in this game (thank goodness).

My own experience is that it's right about 70% of the time (good or bad), but others mileage may vary... obviously.

This specifically means leaving a ghost model of the tank on the battle field where it was last spotted, not symbols on the minimap.
