War Gaming: Can we limit matches to a single arty per side?

Current limit of 3 is fine.

1 arty on each side would be perfect and more people would play world of tanks more often if this could ever happen. I have been told by other tankers that arty keeps them from playing.

Can't blame them, arty, the 268 v4, and gold rounds are the three most broken aspects of this game. I do really need to give the v4 props for being so broken that I think it's a more urgent fix than gold rounds and arty, though.

You take out premium ammo they'll come up with other things to cry about. Every time WoT's try's to nerf the game. By taking out maps that suit one or more types of tanks but not others ? Why do you think we got Stalingrad and Kharkov and the artty STUN effect. Some SPG's nerf'd into SLUGS and their reload times increased. Because heavy drivers cried ! When really all that was needed was limit of artty to three max per side. (Now we need the very same restrictions on TD's. Because when I saw ten TD's per side TODAY ! It was 2011 again with nine SPG's per side.) Then subscriptions CRASHED on them because artty, thin skinned TD's and light players got tired of being overrun by heavy and mediums all the time.

1. I prefer arty removed. 

2. If not removed, 1 per match.

3. I prefer 1 arty per match because even longer queue times for arty might deter players from arty. 

4. Shot at by one arty or getting gangbanged by 3? 

 

 

 

#3, and that's exactly why it will never happen.

So, you want it to be EZ mode regarding red arty.  Dont have to worry about being in the open, being motionless, or being seen.  You just want to drive anywhere, with no regard to personal safety and not worry about yourself being blown up.  Got it.

Wow, it's almost like you improve things by identifying problems and solving them! But I guess the game's perfect, so why change anything?

Hey, you know what that sounds a lot like? Playing arty! Perhaps if your best argument is "I don't want the game to be as easy for everyone else as it is for me!", it's time to find a new one.

that still will not fix bad game play.

had multiple players in a game i was playing SPG in tonight.

After being hit they simply sat in the same spot, not jinxing not moving at all just sitting where i had already hit them once.

they were not tracked, they just simply did not move at all though a 20 second reload.

i would almost say they were target fixated to the point their situational awareness went right out the window.

WG can not fix a lack of situation awareness.

Another factor people simply play WOT like it is a single player game and the game revolves around them only. 

ask other players to mark direction SPG hit them from so you can counter battery.

Nobody does it, even though they are getting shredded by arty.

I do believe that reducing arty to 1 per team would improve gameplay, but I doubt this is feasible, due to queue wait times/complaints. I think, instead, an interesting idea would be to increase reload and aiming times at longer distances, BUT decrease it as the range closes. Perhaps make it so that reload, aim time, and accuracy improves the longer it is "zeroed" (you must fire multiple rounds to zero in on a target) meaning that arty won't be able to switch flanks as effectively; however, it can be very effective If arty plans their attack in advance. This seems like it would be more realistic and rewarding gameplay. At the same time, it would accomplish its mission of punishing "campers." It might even bring a more "skill" based gameplay to the class.  

 

One last Idea would be to add another strategy based caveat to the role. One example I have come up with is requesting reconnaissance planes and receiving XP for spotting damage. If balanced correctly I think it could alleviate the annoyance of long reloads. (Think like a tier 1 or 2 light tank scouting for 2-5 seconds. Maybe have a 1-minute cooldown. It could scale to crew skill). It would be a major overhaul, but we have test serves for this kind of stuff, right?  (Edit: I suggest this because of the longer reloads/aim-time/zero-time I initially proposed) 

 

P.S. I do not like arty as it is now. I have one artillery, the m53/55, and for the record, I would happily be rid of arty if compensated for the XP/creds earned through the grind. I mostly use it for missions and to check my in-game ping (I don't want to screw my team over in a top tier tank if my ping is unstable).

I'm not convinced that making bad decisions with respect to gameplay actually affects wg, at this point.
