I just executed the wot launcher to get the latest news. I see the extravaganza is now over.

I see this quote "We are processing the Intel leaderboards to exclude any rule breakers, so stay tuned for the final results!"

What were the rules, I didn't know there was any ?

Same as WoT rules which, like most online games, people rarely read before playing.

(b) ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ORGANIZER’S WEBSITE OR ANY OF ORGANIZER’S GAMES (OR ANY PART OF EITHER) OR UNDERMINE THE OPERATION OF THIS MARATHON MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD ANY SUCH ATTEMPT BE MADE, ORGANIZER AND ITS LICENSEES (IF ANY) RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND ANY OTHER AVAILABLE REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SUCH ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. EACH PARTICIPANT AGREES TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS ORGANIZER, ORGANIZER PARTIES AND AFFILIATES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, LOSSES, DAMAGES AND/OR LIABILITIES (INCLUDING REASONABLE ATTORNEYS' FEES AND EXPENSES) THAT MAY BE ASSERTED AGAINST OR INCURRED BY ANY OF THEM AT ANY TIME, IN CONNECTION WITH PARTICIPANT’S BREACHES OF ANY REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY OR COVENANTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS MARATHON.

Can’t wait to hear the result, or to not hear it if it gets swept under the rug.  Either way it’ll be must see TV.

What is there to get "Swept under the rug?"

It doesn't really matter who all are declared legit winners, everyone who tried and lost will scream "CHEATERS" anyway.

Glad I just played in my normal way through this thing and enjoyed the game as usual.

Nothing really... just that some folks found "creative" ways to win beaucoup stamps. More power to 'em.

Less "creative" players are steamed over losing.

Smart players didn't get sucked into the whole mess.

Who was banned from the competition, how they were banned, why, etc.  Who won?  How was it determined they were legitimate?  Why weren’t the rules enforced the contest was active.

Just wait for it.  It’s sure to be fun.

When they said they were going to ban players for cheating, they should have specified what qualified as cheating, and done the bans right then and there.  Legitimate players were left with no way to truly know their position on the leaderboard, or even if they were on it, which made many give up when they actually had a chance.  The handling of this event was truly awful; the worst I've seen since I've been a regular member of this community.

What rules were there that weren't enforced?

They're basically going to look for botters which isn't hard to spot when you look at average battles per day and check it against accounts actually played by a human.

They probably created that message because of the slight backlash about so many botters being in the rankings including one for the laptop.

Rules?   How about the big announcement and description of start and end times?

Big announcement in WoT NEWS by WG

We want to celebrate the Update 1.0 release by offering up a great event that everyone can enjoy. Whether you play several hours a day or twice a week, you can earn some great goodies by rolling out in the Grand Extravaganza, running from March 23 at 12:00 PT | 14:00 CT | 15:00 ET until April 6 at 12:00 PT | 14:00 CT | 15:00 ET.

There's the clause that gets me, as there was so much harassment on the forums lately... But I'm sure that will be overlooked.

And remember, everyone, your own idea of cheating might not be WarGaming's idea of cheating!

Well, obvious disqualifications would be botters and those using banned mods.

Highly probable, but not certain, disqualifications would be those demonstrably hot seating.  Past precedent has WG disqualifying people for sock puppeting and/or hot seating to win contests, at least sometimes.

Possible, but not probable, are disqualifications for hyper yolo play.  Unfortunately, there's no precedent of DQs or bans for such behavior, so to do so now could potentially open a nasty can of worms.

Other than that *shrug*

Here is what you are going to have to accept, the rules are completely arbitrary, WG can disqualify anyone for pretty much any reason they choose.

" attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the MARATHON by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices,"

What exactly is an "unfair playing practice"?? I'll tell you what it is, it's an excuse for WG to do whatever they want. I suspect there will be quite a few hurt butts when this is all settled and in all probability some of those butts won't have actually broken any specifically written rule.

I received permission from WG to allow my roommate to play on my account on my computer back when I was in college... "Hot seating" is legal.

Where is the rules against charging in?  As long as someone is actually legitamately playing the game, WG has never tried to police their playstile.  Just look at TanTan for an example; 100% of the community think that he is cancer, but he isn't actually doing anything bannable.

Exactly.  Been my point all along.  Like I said.  It’s going to be fun to watch.
