Hello again, everyone!

I have a bit more news to share on this lovely Friday.

Today, we are also releasing a Supertest for our newest map prototype. We want to continue to share information about the new locations in World of Tanks, and as such, we would like to announce that this test will be for the new map of Berlin.

We intend to make this new map similar to the real terrain of Berlin. In our previous testing, we had to abandon complete historical accuracy in favor of more comfortable gameplay.

Berlin is planned to be a sort of mixed location with urban areas and open spaces. There will be some historical objects included, however (e.g. Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building, and the railway station).

Gameplay on the map will be suitable for all types of vehicles:

  • Heavy tanks will be best suited for Zone 1. The urban area will cover these tanks from SPG fire and the distant fire of opponent TDs.
  • The open areas (which include Zones 2 and 3) are suitable for Light and Medium tanks. Zone 2 will also be preferable for mobile vehicles, as you will need to be moving constantly in this Zone or you will likely be hit by enemy SPG fire. Zone 3 is great for active and passive spotting if that's more of your style.
  • There are also positions for TDs to flank on this map, which can prevent quick breakthroughs of opponent vehicles and stop them in their tracks.

This is the first closed test of the new Berlin map, during which we will determine if this prototype is playable. This means that, in the future, the locations may change significantly from what is currently on the ST.

Also, check out the following videos that show-off the new map:

Feel free to share your feedback on the new map here, as it really helps us out!

See you on the battlefield!

New maps, nice. Are they fixing the maps they pulled also or are they gone forever?

First, it looks like it has great potential to be a fun map. I do wonder about the river/canal though because it looks like a no escape drowning zone. If it can only be crossed with those  bridges it seems that there will be massive pile ups there .

Frankly with the HD reworks, it would probably be just as much work to rebalance AND retexture the old maps as it would be to create new ones from scratch.

Then why didn't they do just that?

People been wanting new and more maps for years.

That would have been a terrible idea.  Players still need some familiarity with the maps.

The map team was converting everything to HD. Now that they have HD conversions done, we're starting to see new maps like Berlin and a few major reworks like Province. There have been work-in-progress videos for 2-3 other maps in addition to these two over the past couple months. We also did get a new map, Glacier. Even though it is pretty much Snow El Halluf, it is still a new map.

Hiya! While this is not out of the realm of possibility, we have shared everything we have on maps on at this time. If we have any further information on maps and their possible return, we will be sure to share it with you :honoring:

Kharkov and Stalingrad are gone. Do I know if they are being reworked for  eventual return? I do not.

Kharkov being reworked.

The 1st iteration was posted "for approval" a couple of months ago and soundly rejected.

Ya..One map every 2 years!

3 years for the HD update and we get 1 new map with it!

Why go to all the work of creating a map and then cutting off 25% of it with the boarders. (and it looks its the interesting part)

Then you reduce the playing area another 25% with locked out areas inside of building blocks forcing players to go around into corridors and channeling play.

Why not make that HAVOCK engine really work and make it so players can blast apart buildings and alter the map with play

Arty and tank shells should be able to reduce buildings to rubble and knock them down/over and punch holes through them.

Congrats on another map

Hopefully it wont take another 6 months or more to release it into this map stale game of yours!

See you on the battlefield!

If you insist on forcing city corridor maps on us why not at least give us a choice on which tank to play after we draw it?

Hello again, everyone!

Nice to see SOMETHING happening on this front!

Too bad WG is still trying to dictate game play and incorporating it into their map design.

What you are doing is tantamount to a go-cart track mentality in your map designs...BLAHHHHH!

You guys really need to out source this part of the game because after the last 4 years you really suck at it!

What happened to the original group that was churning out maps every month or two?

Bring them back for the sake of the game!!
