First of all I should point out that I know very little about the technical side of computers.  I bought an Inspiron 15 7579 about 5 months ago and had no issue running WOT on high graphics.  About two months ago my laptop started overheating and shutting down after just a few rounds.  I have adjusted the graphics quality down to minimum, as anything higher will overheat the laptop.

Is that to be expected for the graphics card for my laptop, or should it be able to run it without issues?

Thanks!

I wouldn't be able to answer this properly because my laptops have external fans to help vent the heat, plus they are up on a wire dias to prevent water damage and to help with ventilation.

It's not.  The laptop was still under warranty and I sent it back to dell after doing all the normal "overheating fixes".  They replaced the heat sink and fan a week ago and it's still doing it.

You're running Intel integrated graphics, and since they introduced the Core Engine graphics, it's going to have issues with High Graphics on WoT.  Try getting a ventilator pad for the laptop, it may help.  For sure don't use it on your lap and block the air intakes.

No, I don't see how its possible the integrated graphics chip on that thing can run anything but minimum settings on WoT 1.0.  It's designed to provide a picture on your screen while you're web browsing but not gaming at this level.  Compare your rig to this 15in HP model... https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-power---quad-w--2gb-gfx-touch-optional-1gk62av-1 to see, at that price point, the difference having a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 video card would make.  Here's the comparison at PassMark, https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp%5B%5D=3596&cmp%5B%5D=3805

That being said, one strategy is to go to advanced power settings and drop your power use to just below 100%.   Check with Mr. Google on that one, lots of articles on that.
