There was an ice storm in Toronto over the weekend. Yes an ICE STORM. It hit over Friday night and ended Sunday night. There was no going out, no social calendar and for small periods of time, no power/internet either.

That left options slim. Since there was a 5x weekend going on, I decided to drown my weekend sorrows in grinding out free XP and enjoy some of the sales. I finally played my obj 257, T-10, Obj 430  and T-54 too. WOW. I cannot tell you which is my favorite. All great tanks!!

-I unlocked and bought the Tier IX G.W. Tiger P and fully equipped it

-10 Million in equipment sales and consumables bought

-made 25,000 in free XP.

Cant think of what else.... it was fun.

I took a look at the 39%  players platooning in tier 10s hugging the red lines and signed off for the weekend.

I got the WZ-132 and the Type 61, plus stocked up on a lot of repair kits.

IKR ... 44% overall, < 35% in Tier X tanks, but that didn't dissuade them in the least.  Odd case being:  I don't ever know that I've been part of a 3/5/7 game when platooned in Tier X, but I saw a ton of platooned Tier X players in 3/5/7 this weekend.

As much as I like the idea of x5 weekends, I tend to stay away from them.  Not because of all the crazy players, but I just tend to get frustrated to easily with the gameplay.

I am no where good enough at this game to carry a team of players worse than I am. I can barely carry myself !! :teethhappy:   I was 43% at 12-13,000 games so I do not mean dog them. But I know when to sign off and go watch a movie :great:

I have been in games with you. I have seen you carry.

You could clearly see the people who were basically logging in to have others carry them to a win.

1 person per team is bad....4-5 is a auto-loss.

I was tooned with some buds in tier 10s and we got a top tier 3/5/7 on Paris.  I think the only tier 10 3 man toon I've been in to get a 3/5/7 matchup.  Against a unicum toon of 268 v 4s.

Went about as expected.  Some shooty, some exlpody, wondering my why spleen is over there now, gee my legs also seems to have scampered off, some neat new ventilation holes in my tank, oh golly gee that one seems we've lost.

  • Finally bought the tier 9 Obj 430, put my 5 perk Obj 261 crew in it, geared it up and took it out a couple of times.
  • Equipped a bunch of tanks, including lower tier freemiums.
  • ran some x5's on old keeper tanks in order to boost the crews.
  • ran the double/x5's on the OHo (I refuse to power grind it - the entire line is a meme anyway)
  • I didn't run a single tier 10 - and have no regrets.
  • made a hair over 1.8m credits, and maybe 15k free xp, as well as advanced my casual grinding of the aforementioned OHo, newly acquired obj430 (which basically is elite out of the box save for the engine upgrade) and the T49/Ru-251 which I never bothered turning accelerate crew training off until fairly recently.

Oddly enough, I find it interesting that folks blame "bad players attracted by the event" for frustration and reasoning why they logged off.  Bad, passive, inept, anchor-like players are a constant 24/7/365...

For me, my sessions ended or a break was taken in the following order of importance due to entertainment value plummeting.

  1. map rotation.  I see ensk, abbey, himmels and paris, and I'm done.  sometimes for hours, sometimes for the day, sometimes for a week or more...
  2. arty focus
  3. and then passive, non-participants in top tiers.

I'd been taking a break from tanks prior to the anniversary event, so when I returned to the game this weekend, I didn't play nearly as much as I would have wanted to to take advantage of the sales.

The only things I bought were 5 pairs of Coated Optics, 4 pairs of Gun Laying Drives, and 80 or so Prem consumables.

I bought the 705A, which I was hoping would be OP, but I guess 268-4 got all the magic.  And I will point out that, as bad as my stats are, the game play was shockingly poor.

Some of that crapwas ugly. I admit I am NOT the best by a long shot. I try though and take positions I feel benefit the team.

On one occasion when all 3 tier Xs died in the first 2 min, I took my bat chat for a swim asap.... horrible.

I saw a lot of yolo, as if people are working a strategy of spotting everything and dying, ,moving onto the next game as a means of grinding XP faster. I wonder if it worked.

Try playing Fisherman's bay or Ehrlenberg with no scouts.

funny stuff tsavo :)

I encountered two games of platoons of 268 v4s over the weekend. Both were sets of 2. When they were the enemy, my team lost. When they were on my team, we lost..LOL. awesome..lol

The yoloism was noticeably higher. At one point I would message to please dont yolo at the start of a battle. That was a mistake. I got hate messaged all kinds. Sucks.

In TO here too.  Didn't lose power but lost heat for all of Sunday.  It's still off actually.  Old, old apartment building.

I didn't do a real marathon but I did play more than I would normally.  I finished the grind to the Emil II with a bunch of losses and a glorious final victory.  Bought that and moved everything over.

I got x5 wins on a ton of tanks and went back and finished a light tank mission with honours.

Avoided tier 10 and totally happy about it.  Played 6-9.

I get like the gameplay was as bad as normal, honestly, and the win rate was just as streaky.
As for the OP’s question, I bought the T95, WZ-132, I rebought the M4A3E2 Jumbo just for fun, and I upgraded to the STRV 103b (had to sell the 103-0 at the discount to have enough credits).
Now I need a crew retraining sale so I can move the crews...
