Lost one like that Monday on Glacier. It was 4-to-1 in my team's favor, with the surviving enemy driving a very healthy Defender. Our side had two light tanks and two unarmoredTDs, all of them one-shottable. One of the light tanks went to cap; the two TDs stayed off cap and covered him, and the other scout went looking for the Defender. He looked in the wrong place (he went to our cap expecting the Defender to be there: in fact, the Defender did the smart thing and returned to his own cap).
With 2 seconds left to cap, our capping tank jumped off cap. A few seconds later the Defender appeared, killed him, then proceeded to one-shot each of the TDs in turn. Our last light tank hid and we took the draw.
If you can win by capping, always cap. Always win. Risks are for chumps.
