With the upcoming release of the Italian tech tree WG decided to have the Italian tier 8 premium medium as the marathon tank, after I finished all those bloody missions I finally got the tank. I have already played a couple games and I must say that this tank is amazing (terms and conditions may apply).

Here are the pros and cons in my opinion:

Pros:

  • Good gun handling (0.15/0.15/10), accuracy (0.32) and aim time (2.01).
  • Great penetration (212/259/45) combined with fast shell velocity (AP: 925m/s, APCR: 1250m/s) makes it good for sniping.
  • Good gun depression (-9) and elevation (20).
  • Good dpm (1877).
  • Autoreload mechanic gives it a burst damage of 720 with a quick intra clip reload of 2 seconds.
  • Good power to weight ratio (18.63) combined with great terrain resistances (0.38/0.48/0.96) makes it quick to accelerate to its top speed (55km/h).
  • Can mount a gun rammer.
  • Turns surprisingly well (45.57/ 36.46/ 18.23).
  • Good amount of hitpoints (1400).
  • Good base view range of 390 meters.

Cons:

  • Terrible armor, everything can pen the tank even the turrent front.
  • Dpm drops quickly if you fire the next 2 shells in the clip.
  • Bad camo values and big size makes it hard to hide.
  • Crew and module gets destroyed easily.
  • Need to go through the whole reload if ammo type is switched.

Equipment:

  • Rammer.
  • Optics.
  • Vertical stabilizers or vents.

Crew skills:

Commander (also acts as radio operator): Six sense, repairs, BIA, situational awareness, recon, camo.

Gunner: Repairs, BIA, snap shot, camo, deadeye.

Driver: Repairs, BIA, smooth ride, clutch breaking, camo, off road driving, preventive maintenance.

Loader: Repairs, BIA, safe storage, camo, adrenaline rush, intuition.

Playstyle:

This tank is arguably one of the best support medium at tier 8, however there is a skill gap to players to do well in this tank. The autoreload mechanic gives this tank an advantage over other mediums. Able to switch between normal single shot or autoloader's burst damage in emergency situations makes it more flexible than other mediums in many situations. The quick shell velocity makes it easier to snipe at long distances and the good gun handling allows you to fire on the move relatively accurately.  The view range of 390 meters can be easily improved over the maximum spotting distance of 445 meters with coated optics and view range skills. The good mobility stats allows it to occupy a position quickly and escape when the situation calls it.

However it also has major downsides, the armor is useless, don't expect it to protect you. Bad armor combined with bad camo values makes it easy to get spotted and soon your 1400 hitpoints would evaporate quickly. The dpm will drop quickly if you fire the next 2 shells and if there are other enemies they will finish you off quickly. The modules and crew especially the ammorack, engine, commander, and gunner dies easily.

Basically at the beginning of the game don't be a target, just stay at long or medium distances to provide supporting fire for your teammates. At the middle or ending stage of the game you can start be aggressive and clip down tanks with low hitpoints. However you must judge carefully when to act as a single slot or an autoloader, and have good situational awareness to notice which flank needs help.

Overall a very enjoyable tank to play and good luck with the marathon.

I love this tank.  It plays like the AMX30 with an auto loader. speed mobility and gun depression:medal:

Nice review Snipe.  Do you find it paramount that repairs are to be used so early on?

LOL

I guess because my win rate, I get Terrible MM

10% top tier, and for some RNG reason I get crushed when top tier

Still a good support tank.

I put repairs early for 2 reasons:

  • Modules get damaged easily.
  • Minimize the time staying exposed to gunfire when detracked without wasting a repair kit.

Other skills are good as well but I personally think repairs is a better investment over the long term.

Same, I love mine and a huge map like that will be awesome in this tank.

I went with/will do:

Commander: 6th, BIA, camo, situational awareness

Gunner: designated target, BIA, camo, snap shot or firefighting

Driver: camo, BIA, firefighting, smooth ride

Loader: camo, BIA, firefighting, whatever

As of now I have 116 battles with 71% wr and 2014 average damage, 95% solo if that helps. (I do use food though, which is why the firefighting)

I went BiA for my First because I wanted to Maximize the Crew and the Tank early.....      Thinking Usual Supects for 2nd round of Skills and debating Full Repairs or Camo for their 3rd.....         I am also planning on Full Vision on the Commander since he's also the Radio Guy....

I started Vents, Rammer, Stabilizer at first but Dropped the Stabilizer for Optics to get some View Range back.....        Without Skills I am at 438m View Range, and using them I can get near 500m once the Skills are Online and Full......       This after having a Fairly Good Game go Bad because of some Unspotted TD's right infront of the Crews Face, we still won, but only because the 263 fired on me and gave himself away.....

Since it Plays like a Leopard I that's how I was going to set it Up, as a Scout Hybrid/Sniper....      I had been going out with my Scouts and Forward TD's at a Reasonable Distance so if I got spotted they wouldn't, but if they did, I was there to get them Out of a Jam....        As late I have been getting Hammered with 50% TD Teams making it impossible to Back them up if they don't go anywhere....     So, I have been attempting to play Forward Observer and so far it has only been Frustrating at best....

Beyond that, I like the Tank alot...      I have also been Playing the Tier 8 Tech Tree on Up Tanks and I will definately be Grinding this Line....       I am going to Start at Tier 1 and Grind thru, but I also have plans to keep some Free XP handy shouldbI need them.....

When you Bought it, or even Completed the Missions, what you got was all the Same you just Paid for it with Money instead of Time.....     And it was alotta Stuff in the end.....

Well after I posted Last, I managed BiA for the Crew and Proceeded with the Mandatory 'S's of 6th, Smooth, Snap, and Safe....       Once those got up a Bit I dumped my 2K in Gold for the 35:1 Conversion to Top Out 6th and Start Sit Aware on the Commander.....     The remaining Free XP I also Dumped into the Commander to get his Vision Skills to around 80%, this gave the Tank a 460m View Range in the Above Equipment....      The Crew is now getting towards 90% on their 2nd Skills, and it's showing nicely....

I'm still Undecided on the 3rd set though, Full Repair or Full Camo, but I am leaning on Full Camo to continue the whole "First Strike" Theme....       Managed 2 Top Guns almost in a Row, 1 last night before Shutting Down and another this AM 2nd Game after the First....

The First is Top Tier, so Yes and No as for Expected eventually, but a Surprise none the less....

http://wotreplays.eu...etto_m35_mod_46

The Second was a Tier 9 Battle, this one was Far from Expected EVER....      With my Knack for finding the Biggest, Baddest, SoB to walk up to and Kick him in the Jewels, never would I have expected this....

http://wotreplays.eu...etto_m35_mod_46

So, like some have asked, why they chose a GLD in the Package for the Missions, who knows.....       But I can say that when this thing See's Red, it's not a Good Day for Red....     So I think I'll be leaving the Stabilizer off for a while Longer.....
